We are Tasmanians and needed overnight accom as we were dining at Restaurant 13 with family. On arrival our first impression was the location was wonderful overlooking City Park. The receptionist on arrival was really pleasant and helpful. The exterior of the hotel was a bit dated looking very 1980's. Our room was located out the back and parking was available right outside our room which was a plus. On entering found the room was a little disappointing, it seemed dated and in need of a refurbishment and seemed dusty. The bed and bedding were clean though. The TV was small and old requiring a set top box which we managed to get working once. The bathroom we found difficult to get into, one almost had to step into the shower to get to the toilet. The heat/air con was really good though as was the electric blanket. There was a charge for wifi which in this day and age should be provided free. The room came with continental breakfast which was ghastly! Bread for toast was stale, something wrong with the juice which was fizzy, coffee awful. In fact most of the breakfast ingredients seemed stale and I suspect that they had spent the night in the warm breakfast room. We wished we had opted for a cooked breakfast. I think the place needs some money spent on it, a bit of TLC and it would be really top notch to match the wonderful location it is situated in.

Stayed 4 nights at this motel around Easter. Room looked bit out-dated and some refurbishment is advisable, but everything was working, comfortable bed, clean and tidy bathroom which we considered as sufficient for travelers like us.
Location is very good; every morning we had nice walk in the peaceful and picturesque City Park. And it's only 5-10 mins walk to the City Centre with all restaurants, clubs, shopping... Basically, all Launceston attractions could be reached from this place by foot...
Front desk lady was very friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay at Commodore Regent.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the motel are very quiet and have nice view over the City Park, but would requi...

Stayed there in January 2013 for 3 nights. The room overlooked the park. It was very well appointed. The room rates was very good. Had no problems with parking and only had a short flight of stairs to the room from the carpark. Found the room and bathroom very modern and spotless. Walked into the city everyday and strolled through the park. Satff were very helpful. Entrance to motel from road was steep however, did not find it too much of a problem.

On arrival at this hotel we were disappointed to discover that the hotel was very dated. The rooms was nice enough, but the bathroom didn't feel clean and was quite small. The restaurant was nice and the waitress was lovely. We were also in a room that required scaling 4 sets of stairs, which was difficult for the older people were travelling with.

I read some very mixed reviews (end of last year) before booking the Commodore Regent. Our experience was very good. Nice, good-sized, quiet, comfortable room. Parking up a hill, but really no problem. We visited everything by foot. We didn't try out the restaurant but heard that it has a very good reputation. Good value.

Tip - when leaving, if you're heading eastwards, you're on the right side of town.

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a room overlooking the park. The room was large, bed and pillows comfortable, very clean. All the usual inclusions: iron, ironing board, hairdryer etc? Very large picture windows. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Great location within easy walking distance to main shopping area and Southport. Added bonus of free parking.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the park. You do get a little noise from the traffic but there isn't...
