It's a lovely spot to relax, go for a swim and enjoy long walk, cross the hanging bridge. You can choose to do a 15 min walk from the town to the reserve along the gorge or continue on a longer walk into the reserve.

A very well presented park and great walk right in the middle of Launceston. Very spectacular scenery, that is obviously popular with locals and tourists alike. Enough space that you can get away though. Well worth a couple hours site seeing.

Our first day we spent wandering around cataract gorge. The suspension bridge is great. There are many walks and the cafe serves great scones.

Well, it definitely was not the Grand Canyon (which in one of our guidebooks it had been compared to), but it was a lovely place for a walk and to spend an afternoon. I also would have been very happy sitting on the lawn and reading my book for a few hours!

We enjoyed the walk around cataract gorge and took the chair lift. I found it to be excessively priced at $41 / family one way ( it would have been $48 return) . Despite this, cataract Gorge is a nice place to visit and you could easily spend a few hours there.
