Glenayr Apartments

I live in the country and often travel to Launceston for work and play. I have stayed here twice now, the first time at Shearers Quarters; the second time at the Eco-Cabin. Glenayr was a home away from home, offering modern accommodation in a farm setting with all the facilities. Very quiet and peaceful with a view overlooking the farm property and vineyard. Only 10 mins from CBD it offers proximity to the city but with country ambience.

Room Tip: If you are wanting isolation then choose the Eco-Cabin - its separate to the others on the other sid...

We stayed at the Glenayr apartments when we couldn't get accommodation elsewhere in Launceston when we were visiting for a family wedding. While normally the apartments have a two night minimum stay, Gordon took pity on us and let us stay for just one night. The setting is lovely, and the apartment we stayed in was modern, clean, comfortable and spacious. On two levels, there are lovely views over the paddocks to the northern edges of Launceston. We were welcomed by Gordon on our arrival, and had a good chat about his vinyard (and a sampling of his Chardonnay). On Sunday morning, we spent a bit of time watching a hare in the paddock in front of the units.

Not an ideal venue if you want a city experience, or if you need to walk to the nearest restaurant or shopping centre. But ideal if you want something with a very rural feel, yet on the edge of the city.

Room Tip: Only a few units, all have the same aspect and outlook.

Had a very romantic stay at these beautiful apartments. Sampled the wine from the Ryanna Vineyard and enjoyed the serene ambiance of the rural surrounds so close to the city. Friendly hosts. There are lots to see on the farm. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Wonderful wine. Take the farm tour.

I was in Launceston on a business trip but due to the local Ag-Fest, I found accomodation difficult to find. So I was booked in to the Glenayr Apartments. Situated about 10 mins from the CBD, it was a pleasant drive out but hard to find. It was not well signed and after driving up and down the road, I eventually rang them for directions. The self-contained apartment was well appointed with a bedroom, loungeroom area and bathroom upstairs and kitchen, dining room and bathroom/laundry downstairs. I found some tea, coffee & milk which was most welcome at the end of my journey. I was unprepared with groceries so it was a decent drive back towards town to buy coke, etc. The nearby hotel provided a good selection of meals and the food was quite good. This was not an ideal place to be alone as I felt quite isolated but could be enjoyable with company.
