We enjoy staying at the Country Club. The rooms are a great size but need updating ! And it would be nice to have a shower that wasn't over the bath !!! TheTerrace restaurant is very good and food interesting !! Other bistros not so good, Breakfast excellent ! Parking great ,staff. friendly !

Room Tip: Ask for room facing garden with outside terrace ! on the south side you can often see little potor...

Stayed in hotel rooms - Our first visit and initially we were a little apprehensive with the Country Club now 30yrs or so old however we were pleasantly surprised with the condition of both the rooms and other facilities. The whole venue has been extremely well maintained and is run very well. The standard and choice of restaurants is quite impressive as was the attentive staff. The location is very handy and we will definitely return.

We enjoy staying at the country club as you get treated like royalty and nothing is a problem for the staff they always try and help. It has variety of activities and restaurants depending on what you like and budget.
And the Spa is really nice
It's great to have your car waiting when you need it
And I am usually alone with my children so there gore it's great to feel safe
It's quiet so we can get our sleep as we are showing horses or dogs
Or even car racing do we need our sleep

I've stayed in 3 star hotels that offered a more premium guest experience.

Staff indifferent, inpolite and disengaged.

Food and beverage overpriced and underwhelming.

Rooms old, outdated and beds terribly uncomfortable. If you find that your pillow is flat as a pancake don't just put up with it - I called reception and they promply brought us 3 much more comfortable pillows but not sure why we had to ask for them? Eith way, I couldn't wait to get back home to my own bed.

The Terrace Restaurant used to be fantastic but the attitude of the staff and the quality of the food / produce have both taken a significant dive since my last visit. You would get a better coffee from the espresso machine at 7-eleven for $1 and if you want a more premium coffee with your breakfast you best be prepared to pay further through the teeth on what was already an exhorbitant price for a buffet breaky.

bottom line - don't stay, eat or drink here.

consider yourself warned.

Room Tip: don't stay, eat or drink here.

- Hotel very close to Cataract Gorge and relatively close to many other attractions in Tasmania (Cradle Mountain, Bay of Fire...).
- Clean, spacious, and comfortable room.
- Free parking.
- Very helpful staff.

Built in the early 80's with some additions since, this grand old lady is showing signs of being weary. Whilst spotlessly clean, the décor and interior don't seemed to have kept up with the times. Whilst my stay was not unpleasant there are a few areas I would make mention that could be improved.
Check in is pleasant and efficient, and all staff encountered are friendly and helpful.
I had a large room at the back of the hotel, and the feeling is a little claustrophobic, as there is not much natural light entering the room and the walls and ceiling being concrete.
The room had two large beds, and the bed I slept in was comfortable. There was a small television, and mini bar, Wifi and access to broadband. There is plenty of storage, and a table and two chairs, but no other comfortable seating. There was some noise from the room next door, and a humming noise in the hallway, I am assuming was from the air-conditioning unit.
The small bathroom was well appointed, apart from the toilet which was situated behind the door. Having a shower over the bath from my experience with many other hotels I have reviewed is an out dated practice, and certainly should be reconsidered when next undertaking refurbishment.
The grounds are lovely for walking in, and there is an abundance of restaurants, bars and of course the casino. I partook in room service and I found this to be tasty, plentiful, hot and a quick efficient service.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel would offer a nicer outlook.

Everything you would expect from a 4.5 star , but the health centre is a fail . Everything cramped in a tiny space .
Staff is very polite and helpful .
The hotel needs to focus on something other than gambling.
Rooms are well done and comfortable
