“Average stay in a business orientated hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2013

We booked a fair way in advance for our rooms - paying extra for a river view.
We were only staying here because the very early shuttle bus for our hike picks up from this hotel only. They do offer a slight discount to walkers.

Apart from a slight mix up during the initial booking, our stay left us with a '..eh' feeling. We felt like we were treated less cordially than the other guests (who were dressed in business suits rather than our hiking pants and boots!)

Even though we had booked several months in advance it was still a bit annoying to see we hadn't received a balcony room, (we assumed all river view rooms came with one) which meant we might as well have saved ourselves money, you cannot enjoy the view looking through a window.

At the end of our hike we returned to the hotel and asked if we could please have a room with a balcony as we'd like to sit outside and actually enjoy what we paid extra for - we were told that the hotel was full and there were no available rooms.
Right then a businessman walked up to the counter and was told that he had been upgraded to their premium suite for the night and to enjoy his stay. Awkward...

Nothing against the hotel if you are travelling on business, there are several nice restaurants nearby (Salsa especially was great) and it was nice to walk along the boardwalk. However if we had our time over again we would try to find somewhere not so business-orientated.

Room Tip: Look rich.

I spent more than a week at Peppers recovering from surgery. It was perfect. I had a beautiful studio overlooking the Est river and watching the rowers in the morning. The studio was regularly serviced, and the Mill wasn't far away to purchase delicious morsels. I was able to walk to tapas, drinks and relaxing meals as I recovered , most healing. The studio was warm and inviting.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the river is an absolute must.

Choosing to stay at Peppers Seaport was an obvious choice really, great reputation, ( we chose to stay at Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge also) complimented by really good properties in general and in the case of Peppers Seaport it was close to the city it didn’t feel too busy.

Our room was what we’ve come expect from the Peppers group; clean, lovely and comfortable, absolutely no complaints what so ever about the room and its presentation. The view from the room over the river was great and from our experience the staff were very courteous and helpful.

Interestingly the bathroom which was spotlessly clean and well-appointed was let down by terrible water pressure, this normally isn’t an issue for me, however the near total lack of water pressure , after a long day of sightseeing and walking around made for a bit of a disappointment.

The other issue and it may be simply associated with our room is that the “ambient noise”, that is the noise from air conditioning systems, vents, elevators and so that occurs in hotels seemed to be far louder than any other hotel I’ve stayed in recently. We couldn’t complain to concierge (they weren’t there after 11pm) but really it was kind of hard to explain the building was just a bit.

A plus though was the bed, crisp linen and once you got to sleep it was very comfortable.

We ate at the Levee Food Company just next door, the menu was quite nice and the burger is described on the menu as “this is the one”, well it wasn’t too bad and certainly hit the spot.

Room Tip: Try the burger next door at Levee Food Company

Very good and close to the city. Staff were exceptional and helpful. Very convenient to trip around and walk to lovely restaurants. Easy stroll along the boardwalk to taste the awesome seafood of Tassie!!

Nice and clean Hotel with not too many frills but delivered exactly what was promised. Great staff and clean rooms and in a perfect spot to discover Launceston and come back to at the end of the day. Lots of great cafe's & restaurants downstairs - highly recommend a Spanish style breakfast at Salsa Tapas & Wine Bar downstairs for something different.
Views over the Harbour are great but depending on how much time you spend looking out the windows the City Views are just as good for a little less $$.
Would stay there again for sure.

The suites are a generous size, traffic noise can be hard to get used to if you are used to a quite environment but as I said the rooms are very nice.
The staff are always friendly and there are lots of good places to eat nearby including fish and chips,
Mud and Levee food.
Also if you need a doctor dr Gary Kilov is available nearby I was able to get in to see him on the same day which was very handy.

We stayed three nights after having a our other accommodation advise us 2 days before travelling that they'd double booked (we booked a month earlier). There wasn't a lot of option in Launceston for the Sunday night due to a music festival, and so Peppers welcomed us. The staff are very friendly and, for the most part, very helpful. Unfortunately we weren't afforded a river side view, rather the morning and afternoon sun on the road side, teamed with a light breeze kept our spirits high as we arrived during a hot spell.

The doors and window absolutely must be completely closed at night to keep out road noise of the morning, which means air conditioning on. Unfortunately, there is no split system in the bedroom so a waste of electricity is called for to cool/warm the whole unit, rather than just the room you need. Also, the blazing lights of the JMC car yard across the road do not cease until daylight and even though there are good black out curtains, because they only go to the edges of the windows light does tend to pour in the sides throughout the night. We rectified one side by leaning the ironing board against it.

Cooking facilities were very good indeed. Plenty of knives in the knife block, good utensils and all pots and pans you might need, as well as a full fridge and drawer dish-washer. Good location, central to many restaurants, to the cbd and to the fabulous zig zag walk to cataract gorge. It served as a good base camp for our travels around Tamar valley and Launceston

Room Tip: Take a room over the river or be prepared to take evasive measures!
