I stayed here for one night earlier this month. I only stayed here because the regular place I stay in Launceston was full. I am glad I had the chance to stay somewhere different.
This hotel is no looker from the outside - a drab, unappealing brick exterior fronting onto what looks like an alleyway. However, that alleyway is right next to a lovely old theatre/arts centre.
Drab exterior aside, the hotel is located right in the middle of town, easy walking distance to shops, bars, restaurants and lovely parks. My room looked to have been recently refreshed (although they left the tired shower-over-bath) and I had no complaints about it. I found reception staff cheerful and efficient.
The main surprise of this hotel is that it has an authentic old Launceston tram preserved in its aptly named Tram Bar. The bar itself is nothing exciting, but it has a tram. So that is cool. And I did not even know that Launceston had trams, let alone that it had built its own trams back in the day.
I think this hotel is comfortable and in a great location for business or holiday travel.More
