Auldington is situated one block back from the main North/South road into Launceston and being on the side of a hill offers good views over Launceston. We booked off Wotif and got a very reasonable package with large spa bath.
Audlington is a former convent overlooking the church and school. All of the building has been beautifully restored and upgraded to provide a very pleasant, quiet four star experience. the rooms are well equipped, albiet with a rather small flat screen TV. We did not have much of a view but you could go out onto the wide verandah and look out over Lauceston.
The service was attentive and thorough, however having to pay for off-street parking was a bit poor in this day and age. Also wi-fi was an optional extra. A breakfast pack was available at an extra cost, but even that was a bit over priced.
The location is excellent. It is a 10 minute walk into the CBD and to Stillwater restaurant.
There is a lot of accommodation in Launceston, but if you want something a bit different, a bit upmarket from the run of the mill motel room I would recommend Auldington.

Room Tip: Try to get a city view room if possible. There are a lot of different packages available.

We had a large front room with spa. Water in spa was nice and hot, beautiful fluffy towels, everything seemed clean. Room door was noisy on closing but if you were careful you wouldn't cause anyone any problem. Front door was very quiet. Manager could possibly do with a few more lessons at charm school considering the classification of the Hotel but he obligingly ordered a taxi for an early morning start next day. Don't know about city views - city roof tops maybe. We didn't have to pay parking because we were taking the car back to the hire car people later that day but I do begrudge paying for parking at any hotel where I stay. I also profer free internet but we have our own (thing that you plug in to connect). Obviously I'm a Senior Citizen as you can tell by my technical jargon. It was a small walk to town for a couple of geriatrics and a couple of kms up to Cataract Gorge which is well worth the effort if you can drive up but the buggers charge you to park up there too.

Room Tip: It's away from the main traffic area so room quietness really depends on the manners of other gu...

Auldington was a delightful surprise that we booked through wotif.com. We were arriving early evening into Launceston and rang ahead. Auldington organised a simple afterhours check in that allowed us to go and enjoy a lovely dinner. We were upgraded to a City View room with a spa, which was luxurious with magnificent views of the city at night from our room and the balcony. The spa was much appreciated after our long days driving. The best surprise though was when we got into bed and found a heavenly Tempur mattress. Needless to say we woke the next morning much refreshed. We would absolutely recommend Auldington to any of our friends.

Clean heritage building huge room mad just outside the city but Launceston is so small it's only a 10 min walk and 15 mins walk to LGH. and only $109 per night. Can't see how anyone could say anything other than great things.

Great hotel looks great from outside inside staircase is amazing . Ashame our room had no views with only two small high windows making for a dark room that needed the light on constantly almost felt like a prison cell, but not to worry the town is lovely the people are very nice and helpful, location of hotel allows for easy access to all services and close to plenty of shops

my family of four (kids aged 3 and almost 5) stayed three nights from 8th Jan 2013.

we booked a family room and were upgraded to a lovely suite. we only booked for one night as we were relocating to Launceston, however, due to problems with relocation company we needed a further two nights. Leon was great at accommodating us at short notice.

As we had a lot of our stuff with us in our car, we were happy to pay 5.50 for parking to have our car and luggage more secure.

now that we are living in Launceston, we would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

We had a lovely stay at Auldington, the staff were lovely and very accommodating.
located easy walking distance from both the CBD and just around the corner from stunning Cataract Gorge.
Watching the sunset over Launceston from the balcony was magical.
We'll be back again next time we visit Tas.
