“Fantastic service.”
Reviewed 28 January 2012

The service was friendly and they even give you warm muffins and real milk.
The room is average but the service and friendliness makes up for it.
The breakfast is excellent. I would recommend it for anyone travelling through Bairnsdale

Our muffins are certainly popular with our regular guests and we endeavour to provide a level of hospitality that reflects the personalities of not only myself but my wonderful staff as well. Thank you for staying with us and we do appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback.

I used to stay at this motel for business for seven years on a regular basis but this ceased two years ago. It was always a good motel to stay at and it was pleasant to see that all in all it was good to return. The motel is well positioned. It is a short walk to the train station, the town centre where there is a large array of shops, restaurants, churches and other businesses.
Most if not all the rooms have a double bed and a sofa bed so at least three to four people can be accommodated. The largest room also has a lounge area.
I've always found the motel to be well looked after, in that the rooms are always spotlessly clean and any maintenance issues have always been addressed promptly.
All rooms feature flat screen tv's and dvd players, and have reverse cycle air conditioning. A mini bar, microwave oven as well as tea and coffee making facilities are also provided.
The motel itself has changed ownership since my last visit but the current owners thankfully are maintaining the same high standards established by the previous owners.
I can recommend the motel to both business travellers and leisure travellers at any time of the year.

I had business (as I do all over victoria, all year round) in Mallacoota for two nights. To be brief, in my three years of travel in Victoria, it was tortuous (see my review Mallacoota Hotel Motel)

I cancelled the second night and gave them a list of all the things which had made it a miserable night. I have never complained in my 3 years of travelling around Victoria, but this was so bad, they had to know

I booked in the next night to the Colonial in Bairnsdale - same price, but what an incredible difference - a jug of cold filtered water in the fridge, free bottles of water and cans of soft drink, (great) dinner delivered to room, free newspapers, free internet.

Pool, barbeque, microwave and kitchen sink (as well as a great bathroom - huge space). Sounds petty, but a pen to complete your breakfast menu and lovely little packages of helpful things

Would rather be home, yes, but after last night in Mallacoota, it felt almost close to it.

Thanks Colonial!

Arrived looking for a bit of R & R before tackling the Great Alpine road (which was fantastic). Picked the first Motel that we found and booked a room without an inspection. This was a mistake as the room was riddled with mosquitoes (killed upwards around 2 dozen to avoid getting eaten alive at night). This however was not the worst aspect of the room.

There were issues with the plumbing in terms of the level of noise following the flushing of the toilet. After my wife used the bathroom at 4am, I (typically a heavy sleeper) was woken to the point of not being able to sleep, this was a bit rough on someone about to embark on 8 hours of driving the next day.

This was a fantastic place to stay just a short walk out of the main town. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfy! Bathroom was clean. Service was fantastic.

The motel was certainly clean and well presented internally (apart from the odd cockroach).
The bathroom was dated the shower was awful with little or no pressure.
Our greeting was surly and uninspiring.
The pool could be more accurately described as a large bathtub and the sides were peeling away from the concrete. It was enclosed but there was little space to stretch out and no shade. Just what you need on a 40 degree day. The spa was green!
We considered it overpriced compared to other family suites we had stayed in during our Christmas break.
