Huge rooms and very quite and if you like the 1970's you will love this place. Yes it is clean but tiles missing in the bathroom and loose fittings are a concern. It is cheap enough and would be lucky to make a 2 star rating. Didn't try the restaurant was it was closed the 3 mights we stayed (i think it is just closed full stop, but advertised as being open) and the reception staff where very unfriendly.... stay there again NO

Hi David,
Thank you for taking the time to review the Bell Tower Inn.
Your stay in September 2013 was prior to us taking over, so we note your comments and will be basing a lot of what you have said into our plans to improve the Bell Tower Inn.
The Glasshouse Restaurant is now open, Monday to Saturday, serving great European cuisine and a fully licensed bar.
We have new staff at Reception who are very friendly and courteous, so we welcome you back to experience the new Bell Tower Inn.
Regards,
Andrew Cronin

Stayed at this hotel 11 - 12 February and this was the third times have stayed there. Rooms are large and very quiet. While the hotel is not modern, it is comfortable.
Tip- if you don't like wall hair dryers bring your own.

We stayed for 2 nights, booked with an online service the first night and direct with the owner the next night. We found the motel to be quiet, very clean and with HUGE rooms that included the bathroom. The first night was in a standard room which was enormous. Some might say its dated, but we liked it just fine. The next night we transferred to an executive room which had a separate lounge room (complete with bar) and a sunken bath! Speaking with the owner, we found out that they have just taken over and are planning on a major overhaul of the rooms to bring them up to a more modern standard. We ate here too, breakfast was delicious and not a bad deal for $15-00 and ate dinner one night which was also very good. Unfortunately the liquor license application hadn't transferred so it was a dry affair but Andrew mixes a great Bitter lime and lemon! We will stay here again when we are next in Ballarat and look forward to the new rooms and licensed bar and dining room!

Stayed with a group over the weekend for 2 nights. Room was large & airy but cleaning was a real issue. There was mould in the shower grout & when we wiped some spilt water on the tiles in the kitchenette area, the tissue was black! The bedspread was old & completely frayed on the reverse side. The blankets looked grubby.
On the second day the room was not serviced until after lunch. Whatever they pay their housekeeping staff is too much. The bed was not made, just pulled up & the extra blanket we had used was tossed roughly over the end of the bed. There were still bread crumbs on the kitchen bench from breakfast & the dishes had clearly been washed in the bathroom basin as there was water splashed all over the bench leaving our wash bag sitting in water.
Reception & restaurant staff were very pleasant but would not stay there again due to cleanliness issues.

Hi Kerry,
Thank you for taking the time to review the Bell Tower Inn.
Your stay was prior to us taking over and we note everything you have mentioned.
It certainly isn't to our standard either and we are in the process of rectifying a lot of those issues.
We have already replaced bed quilts and put in new beds.
New cleaning staff have made a big difference and so has the quality control, whereby rooms are now set at a higher standard than previous.
We would invite you back to check out our improvements thus far.

Stayed one night. A nice big and clean room.
The room was showing its age a bit, but nothing to really distract from our stay.Ballarat can be a bit cold at night so it was nice to see we had an electric blanket, and the heater worked well.
Check in was easy, the girl at the desk was quick, friendly and efficient.

Room size ok, beds ok, but carpet covered in dead petals that had blown in through the gap under the door. Shower grout was mouldy and many insects in the room. Reception staff very friendly and accommodating with organising an early breakfast (delivered to room the night before).

My husband and I have stayed at the Bell Tower twice and a third stay is coming up in November 2013.
We have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is great.
We would not return if we were not happy, but have always been very pleased with the service.
