Description: Step into our restaurant and watch your senses ignite. Smell the delicious smokiness of Bendigo's only Redgum char-grill and dedicated steak house, as we use our unique "cooking with wood" techniques. In the finest tradition of steakhouses across the globe we use locally sourced meat and the very best in fresh, regional produce. Enjoy in-house and regionally prepared Charcuterie, beef carpaccio, organic lamb, or local chorizo styled sausage. Try our free-range pasture-fed porterhouse or smoked Wagyu. Meat is always the star of the show.

Everything keeps going from better to best with Woodhouse. Modern seafood dishes, the best wood fired pizzas and the best steak in Australia both in quality and cooking (yes I we used to love RP, but not now!). I can say in over 12 months we've never had a bad meal, ever. If you want to experience the best lunch option in Australia, go midweek for any wood fired pizza (including prawn and Moreton Bay Bug) with wine or a craft beer for $20.

I should have known this was not going to be a memorable dining experience for all the good reasons when we arrived. Walked through the gorgeous main area and deposited in what felt like a annex extension on the side of the restaurant (kind of like sitting at the kids table at christmas dinner!). I was lucky enough to be 1 metre from a wall, that was my view. Not to mention the group of middle aged drunk women behind us, one in particular who laughed like the love child of a seal and galah (the whole room kept looking at each other every time she let loose!). For us this ruined the already fragile ambience.
The pizza menu was weird, while I understand trying to be creative, but not even one traditional option. Unusual toppings. I had the seafood pizza and husband had salami. To the pizza makers credit it had heaps of toppings, however the base was soggy and greasy. The steaks were out of control in price, this was not a spacial occasion so we could not justify the price.
The standout was dessert. The crumble was delicious, although a tad difficult to eat out of a glass when the ice-cream was on the slate board.......husband had a chocolate dessert with home made honeycomb - the smile on his face was enough to indicate this a really was good dessert.
1 beer, 1 bottle of sparking, 2 pizzas and 2 dessert - $100. Um thats a bit steep even for Melbourne.

Ordered medium cooked eye fillet. Half of it was rare and I couldn't eat it. When you are paying top dollar for food you expect it to be cooked properly. Also we ordered entree which we never received.
