Not overly authentic with very sweet dishes and thickened sauces.

Our calamari was rubbery in a glutinous sauce.

Service was mediocre.

Obviously caters for a non-discerning trade. Pity as the venue still has some charm its establishment days when it must have been quite a trend setter in Geelong.

Won't be going back until the management changes.

We have been to Man Bo quite a few times now and have found it to be one of the most consistently good restaurants in Geelong. We always leave extremely happy with no complaints.
If you're after the run of the mill Chinese experience this isn't for you- this is a much classier establishment with very high quality dishes.
We always opt for the banquet menu 'b' making it a slightly expensive night at $65 a head plus drinks but it is so worth it!
Out of the 6 dishes my favourites are the Peking duck pancakes and of course the deep fried ice cream. We always leave completely stuffed and satisfied!
If you're looking somewhere a bit special then this is it!

We dined here a month ago, it must be 12 months or more since we last ate here. The service and the meals were once again without fault. A large restaurant with few diners, a bit pricey, but not too bad.

We booked for yum cha under the impression that 'bookings were essential' according the website but we were one of only 2 tables for quite some time. Dishes were presented and offered individually to the table and also by trolley. We asked for the menu, thinking we could have a look and order our favourite yum cha dishes but were given the a la carte dinner menu instead. It might be an idea to have a separate yum cha menu and cook to order, which does take the theatre out of the yum cha experience but minimizes the food wastage which from the looks of it must be considerable. Food was reasonably tasty, service was very polite though lacking sometimes in attention to detail (weak, lukewarm Chinese tea, with no refill offers). Would consider coming back for dinner, I'd like to give it another go as I have struggled to find decent authentic Chinese food in Geelong.

Food was yum, came out reasonably quickly, although we were one of 4 parties in the entire restaurant. Service was okay, nothing to rave about, couldn't speak extensive English either. I probably would go back but would probably get it take away in the future. Upon leaving we did ask for a take away menu but were told that they had none left. Was quite pricey but I thought the food was nice. Have had way better but have also had worse. All in all I would say about a 6 out of 10. Wouldn't recommend for anyone on a very special occasion because I think you may come out at the end disappointed.
