After reading the reviews of this motel onTA thought I would give it a go. not all that good stayed in standard room I think - the room was very small, very dated frayed carpet, old bathroom, horribly scrached furniture, tiny tv - ended up watching tv on my laptop cause I could see it, no austar. It looks like they were doing a bit of work - it needs it . Disappointing after the good reviews - oh yes the stupid shower with no door got all my clothes wet and to top it all off the hot water decided to stop and start without warning
And the bed was cold (as In not inviting) the heating noisy, so noisy in fact I had to turn it off and then freeze as one blanket is not enough, never again will I stay in Hamilton the town is pretty nice no where to stay though.

Found this via TA and thought this would be a good base to visit the Grampians, as Halls Gap was full because of the food & wine festival. We didn't know yet that the Grampians couldn't be visited due to the january storms which washed all the roads away! Our first impression was not so good, the place looked really dreary (it rained...) but when we entered the room we were pleasantly surprised! Large and with a refurbished bathroom. Really beautiful. The room itself still needed work done and only half of the lights worked. Actually everywhere there were 2 lamps in a sconce, only 1 worked. Maybe they wanted to save power. On both evenings we ate in the restaurant. It was quite good and very popular, always busy. The owners are friendly and show genuine interest in their guests. I like that! They also had a good wine list and the specials on the black board were lovely. There was only one real gripe: we came back to our room the second evening and the bathroom smelled like raw sewage. This lasted the whole night. It helped to close the shower door, probably came out of the drain. I did tell the receptionist the next day because it might be a construction fault.

Stayed one night, room clean and comfortable. Bit noisy during the evening with lots of children playing in car park fronting rooms. The food in the restuarant was excellent, one of the best steaks I have ever had!!

It's not much to look at, but comfortable, quiet and well-located. Run by friendly, helpful people and there's the usual Australian motel deal of parking right outside your door. Smart modern bathroom and excellent shower. Free internet. Very close to the centre of Hamilton, an attractive and prosperous old town still based on the local wool industry. Being right next to the town's botanical gardens is also nice.

Stayed here for two nights over the xmas/new years break, there was only two other rooms occupied by the looks of it, so very quiet. Car parking is outside the room, large car spaces which was good, but didn't need to worry as so few people staying there.

It's in a good spot, short walk to the main street, over the road from the botannical gardens which were nice. Say "g'day" to the emu in the gardens if you visit.

Room was clean enough, bit old and smelt kind of funny, but clean so that's the main thing. Small TV and bed not real comfortable, but it was fine for what it is.

We stayed an extra night due to a problem with our previous accomodation (see my mildura review for the story) and there's not a lot to do in Hamilton so we got a bit bored. The room didn't really make you want to stay in and relax (no sitting area), so we spent our time out and about.

I should say the staff were very helpful and very accomodating of our changed itinerary. Full marks to them. Old fashioned country hospitality.

Had a restaurant on-site, but was closed while we were there.

Make sure you visit the big wool bales if you're visiting Hamilton.

Booked this hotel as it was rated number one on Trip Advisor.

Check in was really friendly and when we got to the room I was surprised to see that it appeared to be in the process of being done up. The bedhead was new, there were some nice, modern touches and the bathroom looked quite new as well.

One of the really great things was the hot water! It was instant and really warm in that chilly climate.

Carpet was old, but it was confirmed by a local that the place is being improved bit by bit, so it will probably be replaced at some point.

Saw the sign 'Under New Management' - and thought I would give it another go. I travel about once a month through regional victoria and was pleased to meet new owners Tom and Amelia! Lots of new changes have been made including amazing food in the restaurant (I had the Rib-eye) and left in the morning with a fantastic take-away latte! Apparently Austar is on the way and the free wireless broadband was a bonus. The rooms are clean and good value - and the proximity to the Botanical Gardens cant be beaten for a pre-brekkie jog! Will be back next month!
