The town of Swan Hill is growing due to its sunny climate but it has one of the more boring, least impressive streetscapes of any Victorian rural city.

The Jane Eliza Motor Inn is similarly unspectacular.

It is just adequate for a one night stay.

The upper floor of this two storey complex is accessed via stairs that are out of 1968.

Anyone can wander onto the property at night via the rear entrance, although this did not appear to be a problem the night I stayed.

Rooms are basic but dowdy. They were not dirty - simply severly dated.

At the very least, some render on the brickwork would improve this motel's external appearance - if the building is not demolished instead.

On the plus side, the hot shower worked well, and the location of the motel cannot be beaten as it is close to the railway station which has twice daily V/Line trains to Melbourne and frequent coaches to Mildura and Robinvale at very reasonable fares.

The motel was clean but not upmarket. It was probably built about 1972 looking at its brickwork.

It was fairly busy the night I stayed but nothing untoward occurred.

The lack of a lift (elevator) to the upper floor would be disconcerting for any disabled travellers.

On site car parking is adequate, and the motel is next to the V/Line railway station where trains terminate from Melbourne and V/Line coaches to Mildura either pass through or commence at. Shops and a Chinese restaurant are nearby although the nearest supermarket is half a kilometre away.
