“Great meeting point for everyone”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2013 via mobile

Lovely place at the edge of the beach .... Nice food (on and island ) and great watermelon juice .... Staff are always there to help .... Would deffo go again. The portions of some food was small but that's how they are on the island .... The pizza and burgers was good.

Check-Inn: Staff met us at the Ferry Dock (Jetty). Only a couple hundred meters south of the Yellow Rehendhi Inn. They used a wheelbarrow to transport the luggage. Same was done for guests of the White Shell Inn. Check-in was quick. They expected payment for the room at check-in. Don't think it was mandatory. But, I did get the feeling that is what they wanted. So, I paid for the room (including the 10% SC, 6% GST). Note: They DID NOT collect the $8 per tourist bed tax at that time. Note: I paid with cash and had to ask for a receipt. The receipt was just a hotel stamp, but it was something.

Check-Out: This is when they collected the $8 per tourist bed tax. So be prepared for that cost. It was done on the last day and at the last minute (departure time) I was thinking that it was already included in the room rate (silly me). Note: the next place we stayed the $8 per tourist bed tax WAS included in the room rate quoted.
Again, I had to ask for a stamped receipt (paid in cash). Believe they will add 4 or 5% to your bill if you pay with Credit Card.

Service: Service was very good. Everyone seemed to try to help. Most everyone smiled. There was some communication challenges. Staff were from Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh (as I recall).

Room: #1 (room assigned) is the first of 4 rooms located on the second floor. The room size was good. However, the lack of furniture was an issue. The bed was two twins put together. It was a bit hard but ok. The only other furniture was a miniature vanity with mirror. I write miniature because it looked like it was built to accommodate a small children. The only other piece of furniture was a? I am not sure what to call it. You could hang a few clothes and there were two shelves. It had 2 full length doors. Why I don't know. There was no front to them (wood or mirror). There were NO chairs or a table in the room. The a/c worked fine and was needed. The bathroom area was good size and the hot-water heater was in that room. The temperature control was accessible also.

Food: Breakfast was included in the price paid for the room. The breakfast varied a bit each day and was served by waiter. Not much, if any, choice in what you got other than coffee, tea, OR juice. We carried a hot water heater with us and were able to make our own coffee and tea in the room. This worked very well and allowed us to make drinks in the room and not have to wait for breakfast service.
We did not have any lunch time meals at the Yellow Rehendhi Inn. We did have 2 dinner meals there. The price was not to high and the quality and quantity was good. I had fried rice the first night and stayed with that choice. Menu is very extensive (lots of choices). Don't be surprised if the item you select for dinner is not available that evening.

Clean: We had no issues the the cleanliness of the Yellow Rehendhi Inn. Room, common area and dining area were all well maintained.

Beach: The Inn is close to the beach and just north of the jetty. Water appears clear/clean but I suspect it may not be good to swim in. I did not see a single swimmer in that area. There are plastic pipes leading from the buildings to the open water. Don't know if they are for gray water, black water or ?. The only locals I saw swimming or bathing were on the other side of the island (north eastern area). Away from structures. Those in the water were local woman and they were fully dressed in black garments (Maldives is a Muslim country.

General: This is an 'inhabited' island and proper dress for men and women is expected. Just north of the Yellow Rehendhi Inn there is another lodging option named White Shell Inn. It has more rooms and there were a few tourists in the water (including me). There is an advantage to the White Shell Inn. It has guest lounge chairs, tables and hammocks (tied to the trees). The Yellow Rehendhi Inn has none of these items for its guests. Note: even though I was not staying at the White Shell Inn they were kind enough to allow me to use their beach furniture. I offered $ but it was not accepted. I did purchase several lunch/meals from their restaurant. The While Shell Inn should be consider as an alternative to Yellow Rehendhi because of the beach chairs, sandy beach area, etc.

This island is suffering from beach erosion. Especially noticed near the White Shell Inn. You'll understand if you go there. There is sandy beach. Just some of it has moved into the open water...

Note: there is a small mini-mart just the street and on the left side, from the Yellow R. Good place to buy bottled water and snacks. You will save some $. There is a market/store that some went to. Bring back some very nice fruits. I did not go there or locate it.

Room Tip: only 4 rooms (all upstairs). no windows/view room #1. #1 is large, not much furniture. this room i...

Yellow Rehendhii is a good quality accomodation in a reasonable price and also it is a good springboard for many excursions to adjacent islands and resorts. We bought tickets to Male 3 days before the flight and we booked Rehendhii without reading any opinions before. Thankfully everything was perfect. The rooms were clean, staff was very friendly and restaurant offered really tasty meals and juices. I felt like visiting my old friends. There is no such a word like "Problem" on the island.
One of my best holidays! Greetings
