“One night heading north and one heading south”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2014

Stayed here for 2 nights recently. Once heading north and then again heading south. Both times we stayed in the motel type units. There units are small or should that be very small with only just enough space around the bed to walk. Also the table is just big enough for a laptop or for breakfast. Has the normal essential ie microwave, small fridge, ensuite (which is a fairly good size). The service the first time at check-in (which was after hours) was a bit abrupt but the service the 2nd time was fine. Other then the size the only issue we had was the bed moves if you sit on it as the bed is on casters.

Location - Excellent - right on the beach, Sleep Quality - Very Good, Rooms - Very Good (refer comments re size), Service - Average, Value - Very Good, Cleanliness - Very Good - floor bit gritty but being at the beach cannot be helped.

We have stayed there a couple times in different accomodation so il will review both. The chalet we stayed in was great for our family. Nice and clean with all the standard stuff, as you would expect. Clean sheets nice beds. The camping ground we used 2 days ago was a big size area capable of holding our fully extended camper trailer with room to spare. Camp kitchen is one of the cleanest I have ever seen, lots of fridges and sink space. Pool table and tv's. Amenities are in good nick too. I like the radio playing in them. Plent of hot water, but use it wisely as it's precious in the Midwest. All in all very good spot.

It can be hit or miss when trying to find a suitable camping ground when travelling with the family, but we got lucky in this instance! I had never seen Geraldton so go on a two night camping trip was the plan. I'd searched so many other sites, but settled on this one purely for it's location and appealing website. The ocean views are amazing and spectacular sunsets never fail. The grounds were well kept and the camp facilities (i.e. Camp kitchen and ablution blocks) were in excellent condition! There's a massive flat screen telly, massive kitchen area with plenty of space to cook and clean or just sit and eat and meet other travellers. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to us, there are not cooking utensils, crockery, pots/pans or cleaning products for patrons to use (which wasn't well documented). But lucky we packed enough to get us by as we planned to use the BBQs. The reason they don't keep any on hand is because, sadly, unfriendly travellers/backpackers or local thieves have scavenged most of them :-/ In any case, there's an IGA just round the corner and other shops in town so you're never without. There's a pool table and my son made full use of the sandy dunes and play equipment, he even met some friendly kids to play with. The only downer was the constant arrival/departures of trickiest late at night or early in the mornings, but we just tuned into the sound of the ocean waves. The caretaker looked after our needs when the BBQs were left dirty (thoughtless travellers) and cleaned them for us. Cleaners were very friendly and other more friendly travellers were happy to have a chat. We had a blast and would definitely go back to this holiday park...next time in the summer! Ultimately, when looking around for a campsite/caravan park, look for clean and well-maintained sites with good facilities (TV, kitchen, BBQs and playground, etc.). Bring your own picnic/cooking items and expect a bit of noise from other bustling travellers. Or just go into the remote bush! The showers can go from hot to cold very temprementally, but have one late in the evening and you'll be right (you'll avoid water interruptions for other users). The only thing we really missed was not being able to have a camp fire in the heart of winter (there are just too many liable variables), but nonetheless, we had a blast! Definitely a great choice!

Room Tip: Make it very clear about what you want and do your research. We got a beautiful green powered camp s...

This place has a pleasant enough location near the beach, as do others, but is also home to a contingent of itinerant workers who, during our stay at least, partied with music, shouting and wandering about with alcohol. There were also some other "odd" characters around - not sure where they were coming from. As a tourist/traveller with a family I would give it a wide berth if at all possible. Having said that, the options are limited in this town and we have tried many places over the years. The best strategy as far as Geraldton is concerned is to stop for fuel/supplies then push on to the roadside stop at the Murchison if going North or Dongara/Jurien Bay if headed South. As another person has commented, parks like this must decide whether they are catering to holiday people or semi-permanent workers.

Booked a family cabin for one night on our way back to Perth. Cost $167 per night. If we had to stay in Geraldton for longer than one night (and who would want to), we would definitely have moved on. Bunks kids slept in in hallway were remaining two of original three (top removed for safety purposes). Old and dingy. Didn't have a proper sofa/couch. Just an old futon thing. Everything in the cabin looked like it was purchased from an op shop 20 years ago. Stayed in similar described cabin on way up in Carnarvon for $30 less and was beautiful. Online check-in easy enough and staff pleasant but very disappointing accommodation.

Have stayed here twice - the first time was camping which was fine and on par with most campsites in WA. The kitchen was great!

The second time was in a family chalet. It was in a nice location but really was rather small and a bit outdated. There were only two of us staying and we found it really cramped so can't imagine what it would be like if you took your two children! 10 minute drive to centre of Geraldton and quiet overnight.

We stayed in an ensuite chalet over the easter long weekend and had a great time. Staff were helpful and friendly and facilities were clean and well maintained. Also loved the fish bbq on Good Friday... Great after a day of driving!
