I've been to Margaret River maybe 4-5 times over the years. This was an interesting way to see the region. Shawn has clearly done this many times... lots of interesting stories , and this is like an insider's look at the local area.

The canoeing is the best part. First time I've actually seen the river that gave this region its name.

The value and what contributes to the price is the intellectual property from developing the experience. The provided lunch and other details are not particularly costly.

The vineyard (Fraser Gallop) we were brought to was quite good... but it was a bit too much hard-sell.... or we might have bought some wine. Well, it was one of their competitors I visited subsequently which vouched for Fraser being good value.

If you're tired of the vineyards or have little interest in wine... this is a good alternative.

This was the most unique tour we have ever been on! Started with canoeing on the perfectly calm and beautiful Margaret River. Easiest canoeing ever and you don't even get wet. Then to see some hidden pools where the aborigine caught marron thousands of years ago. Followed by a private wine tasting and lunch at Fraser Gallop Estate. This was by far the most educational wine tasting we have experienced. The meal and wines were wonderful and in a gorgeous setting. Next a 4W trip to a secluded spot for the most spectacular cliff and coastline views. Throw in a few kangaroo along the way. By the way we also had beautiful weather, I don't know how Shawn arranged that? A perfect day in WA! Well worth the time and money.

We journeyed to Margaret River from California to visit the region. We live less than an hour from the Napa Valley, and have done so many wine tours there that we weren't sure we could handle another, but decided to do the Margaret River Discovery Co. Wine Tour--the Best of the Best. We were picked up by Sean at our hotel. We are so glad we did this. Hands down it was way best wine tour we have ever done. We did this in late April so the weather was very cool and we got some rain, but the day was fabulous. Sean has a great outgoing enthusiastic personality. We drank some wonderful wines, and spent several hours at Cape Mantelle Winery learning about the process of making wines, then spent a good hour learning how to pair great wine with food. It was beyond a doubt one of the best days we have spent on any tour anywhere--and generally we do not do tours. We also were taken out to the coast in a remote region to see some beautiful cliffs overlooking the ocean, and to sample some different types of unfiltered honey. I would highly recommend this tour, and am thinking that one day we would like to return and do a different tour with Sean.

What.A.Day. Spoted five Baudin Black Cockatoo's on our river paddle. Had one of the best coffees ever over looking the sea. Tasted rare pure gold honey in a place so old it takes visual props to get your head around it. Visited an absolutely amazing vinyard with wines to die for paired with delicous lunch (p.s. it's helpful to let Sean know you are a vegetarian in advance...which for me, is thankfully not the case) went on a beautiful walk filled with nature and killer views. Sean knows the area, loves the area and is a wealth of knowledge about almost everything. We had a three question quota to fill, which I believe we surpassed before we even got down the river. The company of the group was fantastic, the whole tour well managed, interesting and halarious. I don't know if yours will be as good, but by all means sign up and see.

My wife arranged this tour for the two of us, based in Sydney and my sister and brother-in-law from Country Victoria, on the first day of our stay, April 15, in Margaret River. Our party of six was made complete with a couple from Singapore. We had a great time and I would highly recommend the experience and do it early during your visit to the area not only because it gives you an unbelievable sense of bonding with the area but also because Sean is willing to help with ideas for your itinerary for the remainder of your stay.

Nothing was too strenuous, we were able to enjoy some moments as a couple and could have spent longer on each activity if we had been given the chance but each experience gave us more than a taste of the region.

Highly recommended.
