Stayed in the lodge. Three families. Twelve in total. Great location for Margaret River. Peaceful. Everything is max an hour away. We found lighting the fire at night and using the games room ideal and the large dining table was great. Went for five nights came home feeling we been away for ten.

Amazingly cosy and warm up, home made bread , beautiful drive to location, absolute serenity, perfect hub for caves and Cape Leeuwin, and friendly, accommodating and prompt staff. We stayed for 2 nights in the Kookaburra Chalet which we essentially used as a Hub for exploring the beautiful region, the chalet is surrounded by beautiful gardens in deep in the forest between Caves Road and Bussell Highway, it's amazing peaceful at night and absolutely stunning scenery in the morning. Definitely recommend for any weekend away with the special people in your life.

We had a two night stay in Blue Wren. The chalet was well equipped with everything we could have wanted. We had a wonderful time - we needed the time to escape from our busy lifestyle and Blue Wren gave us exactly that. It's close to Margaret River but we didn't want to or need to go there or anywhere. On the night we arrived, we got the most wonderful view from a clear night sky, the Milky Way in all its glory. Then came the rain, lovely. We were warm & cosy inside with the log fire. It was the best time. The sheer silence was amazing and so relaxing - no cars/traffic/sirens/planes/noise as comes with a town/city life. The loudest sounds we heard all weekend was Sunday mid morning, a flock of crows on the far hill. We saw birds, rabbits, kangaroos. We will absolutely go back ! A big thankyou to Roger & Sheila for making this lovely place, surrounded by nature, available. It was wonderful - exactly what we needed. Highly recommended !!!

My wife and I had a short (2 night) stay at " Kookaburra" chalet and what a lovely experience it was.Firstly let me say if your looking for all the mod cons of a "resort" then this is not the place for you. On the other hand if you're looking for a quiet, secluded getaway then this is definately the place to come.
We found the chalet to be spacious, spotlessly clean and furnished in part with some beautiful marri and jarrah pieces. The bed was super comfortable, the hot water plentiful and the spa great.
Without doubt the highlight of our stay was to walk outside on a cloudless night and be amazed at the night sky, without the light polution of the urban areas it is truly a site to behold!
The chalets are only a short drive to either Augusta or Margaret River.
The bottle of sparkling wine left in the fridge for our anniversary was a lovely touch.
Thanks Sheila and Roger for a great weekend, we'll definately be back.
One tip...pay attention to the directions given by the owners....don't rely on your Sat Nav (it'll take you the wrong way!)

Not a great first impression when you drive up to the Chalet (kookaburra) and are greeted with a gazebo in desperate need of some maintenance, along with some very worn and tired looking outdoor furniture.

The unit was relatively clean, good linen and a well equipped kitchen, but was certainly let down with worn and dated decor, a washing machine that didn't work, and no water on arrival. There were instructions on getting the water pump working but there would be no chance of finding it if you arrived after dark.

And no inviting outdoor sitting area, was such a shame that the outside areas are quite rundown. The bbq area outside the spa room was by far the strangest place for an outdoor sitting area, only accessible by walking through a bathroom?

We have stayed in many other self contained chalets in the area at the same price point and This is by far the least enjoyable stay, i can't say we would ever stay here again.

It is unfortunate that Chelsea's response completely contradicts ALL reviews that we have had this year! While Chelsea was correct, we had overlooked the state of the chairs in the gazebo, after a severe winter that included flood damage, they have been immediately replaced. The short power cut was due to high winds and the washing machine had simply not had the door closed properly! The guests in the almost identical chalet commented that the chalet was "well thought-out, well-equipped chalet" and how helpful Mark, our caretaker had been. We are always on call for such events including after hours. All timber in our almost new chalets has been recently varnished or painted. It is unfortunate that Chelsea did not like our as new, she-oak tables and decor or the layout of the chalet but MANY do love the chalets and the natural surrounds,as can be seen below. Sadly, I think Chelsea simply chose a property that did not match her taste but to post unfounded comments is quite sad, especially given she is running an amazing business, "Realfoodcoop" and contributing in a charitable manner to supporting schools in our communities.

We have just returned from an absolutely fantastic 4 days at one of the chalets. If you want a relaxing, away from everything break Boranup Forrest Retreat is just fantastic. With absolute fantastic surroundings and a great wood fire what more do you need. Thanks for a great stay and would certainly recommend to my clients and friends.

Room Tip: Cannot fault the chalet at all.

I am embarrassed that up till now, I have not found time to respond to the great reviews we have had in recent months and we appreciate the time people have taken to comment and help us to continually improve. Our thanks to the guests who have taken this time. Some of the lovely comments in the chalet guest book are also a great encouragement to Mark and Margaret, who work hard to maintain standards. This year has been particularly challenging with family issues and a flood mid-year causing serious damage, uncovered by insurance but when we get such great feedback from many lovely guests, it makes it all worthwhile. As Xmas approaches, I will take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Xmas and encourage you to help the homeless and those less fortunate. Sheila

A beautiful location. Plenty of space in the rooms. Great Fire. The nearby cafe is superb. To get there continue past the front gate a few hundred metres down the track.Cafe closed Mondays. A few minor changes would really make a difference -blankets need replacing big big fluffy doonas, some local maps and ideas for places to visit. eg Contos is very close So is the Cape to Cape Walk.

Thank you for your feedback. Without it, we will not improve or achieve the high standards we aim for! I am glad you enjoyed Boranup overall. I think these nights are just extremely cold, Mark, and it is time to consider electric blankets. This was the first year we needed evaporative air conditioners! Climate change! I believe Mark, our caretaker, shared some of his amazing knowledge of the area and I know he enjoys this. It sounds as if the maps we supply free in the drawers have run out so I will make sure they are replaced.
This is a lovely area. We are certainly blessed, Mark!
