“To remember for always....”

We have just had the best stay at one of the most 'magical' beautiful, very pretty hotels we have ever been. The beauty of the old Manor, mixed with the updated luxury, we will never forget how special we felt being at the Basildene...... Will never ever forget that place... The gardens, the flowers, the warm welcome, the atmosphere...just amazing....

Room Tip: We stayed at the lake view suite, the best!

We booked this hotel because it said close to town and that was exactly what we wanted: Go out and have dinner and a bottle of wine without worrying about driving.

We got upgraded to a very nice room with a terrace (which we did not need, except for me going our for a smoke) and I agree with other posters here that the environs are absolutely beautiful. But if you want to go out for nice dinner with some drinking involved you need taxi both ways...

It poured with rain during our stay at Basildene, but it was still pleasant to be there, looking out at the countryside through the downpours.

Our room was very comfortable and spacious, with a genrously sized balcony, and the place was quiet despite being well patronised. The grounds are expansive, with pleasant, well kept gardens, lawns and pond occupying the valley to the west of the hotel, with native trees and bush beyond. Birdlife was abundant.

The location is convenient for touring the district and close to Margaret River for supplies, shopping and meals. Basildene offered an excellent breakfast in a room looking out over the gardens, but no other meals.

Room Tip: The rooms facing west and on the upper storey have the best views, but the others would still have n...

Spacious and elegantly appointed rooms - Basildene Manor is a very nice stately home that has been nicely restored. We had a ground floor room with a nice spacious private patio. There was the usual tea/coffee making facilities & even a microwave. The bathroom was extra large with 2 sinks, a nice spa tub & ample amenities. The grounds were immaculate and beautifully mantained. A pity it was too cold to use the open air swimming pool or tennis courts. But a very pleasant stroll.

Service was superb - the receptionist on duty when we checked in was Rachel - she was warm, bubbly, friendly and showed us to our room as well as around the property. Elegant drawing room with a nice fireplace and coffee/tea facilites (which you could help yourself to throughout the day) as well as the breakfast room. Rachel made us feel very welcome.

Only breakfast is served in the hotel and all other meals have to be taken outside but given its proximity to the town centre (a short 5 min drive), this is not a problem.

Room Tip: Have a meal at Must Wine Bar & Restaurant or for something more casual at Spaghetti Bowl Both in...

We spent 2 nights at Basildene Manor to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time wining and dining in the Margaret River region. Basildene Manor is a beautiful historic stone building set in lovely gardens with a lake and tennis court. My biggest disappoinment was that despite my booking confirmation stating that our spa suite had a lake and garden or farm land view, we had an enclosed courtyard instead. Make sure you request a room with a view! We also felt that in a hotel of this standard internet access and dvds could be made available free of charge. The hotel is set in from a petty busy main access road to Margaret River town and there is a bike path running in to town as well. Try the Margaret River Bakery for it's quirky eclectic decor and delicious food. Must was buzzing and great for dinner - book ahead. For great views over the surf break and yummy breakfast try Sea Gardens cafe at Prevally Beach.
