While touring Margaret River wineries we stayed one night at this beautiful hotel. This is an enchanting manor set on very beautiful grounds. It has only 17 rooms all named after grape variety and we were staying in the Marsanne room which was well appointed and looked like very recently renovated.
Free Wi Fi is available in the small lobby and very good full breakfast is served in a dining room overlooking the gardens.
THE place to stay when in Margaret River.

We stayed in a queen room in the original part of the manor. Beautifully refurbished and appointed room, if a little small. Immaculately clean.
Gardens were spectacular and maintained to a very high standard.
Will come again but will try a king room.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a classy and elegant holiday in this region.
The refurbished rooms were lovely with coffee and tea making facilities and king size bed made up daily. The conservatory for breakfast s lovely overlooking the manicured grounds. The staff are polite and most helpful and the lovely lady on checkout even taking my husbands suitcase downstairs for him as he is unable to do it. Just a note on this, upstairs rooms could be a problem with heavy luggage but I believe the king rooms were only upstairs.A very central location near the township, walkable if fit.i would indeed return if over this way again

As a loyal Accor member of many years, I booked this Accor Group property in January 2012 for 2 nights midweek in October 2012 for our Margaret River trip in October - so theoretically there shouldn't have been any hickups with a booking made 9 months in advance. However I received a call a week prior to the trip advising that a glitch in the changeover to a new booking system had resulted in our 1st night not being available as they were now booked out. Arrangements were made for us to stay in a nearby B&B for the first night and then transfer to Basildene, with an offer of complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea to compensate. When we did get to Basildene on the second night I was so disappointed to have not been there for the 2 nights - and to have had to pack and unpack after a night at accommodation I didn't choose. The property is an amazing old world mansion with stunning gardens and setting. The rooms, each named after a wine variety, are very large and bathrooms are huge with a free standing bath. Breakfast and afternoon tea were excellent, and served in the sunroom. The property is close to all that you go to Margaret River to see, and in our brief visit we didn't see anything that compared. If not for the booking stuff up - which was totally unacceptable, particularly as I found out that breakfast is generally included in the rate, and suspect we were bumped for a bigger group booking, I would rate this property much higher. I would recommend checking on bookings, even if they are made well in advance.

Dear Chrissylou62,
Thank you for taking the time to post your review after your stay at Grand Mercure Basildene Manor. We are so sorry to hear that your reservation for the first night had to be moved to a nearby bed & breakfast. Upon investigating with the General Manager, we can confirm that the error was due to a technical problem whilst changing over from one reservation system to another. Appropriate checks have now taken place to ensure that this does not happen again. To clarify, breakfast is not always included in the rate paid for the stay. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and the upgrade to the Lakeview King Suite.
Once again, we apologise for the error made with your reservation. We thank you for your feedback and look forward to welcoming you again in the future.
