I read the previous reviews and with trepidation booked this hotel because of budget. I have travelled around the world several times and feel I can confidently rate this motel. While it is definitely in need of an upgrade the rooms are large clean and very close to the main drag. I would not hesitate in recommending this motel to anyone that wants to stay for long or short periods. Value for Money. Some noise but not bad I have had much worse in 5 star hotels. The staff were wonderful. The bush around the units terrific.

Thank you for your kind review, ziggyperth, we were pleased to read that your bravery, in the face of trepidation, was rewarded.
As always, our number one concern is our guests' satisfaction and the maintenance of our 'value for money' reputation.

I stayed one night, shower mouldy, dust build up on all wood paneling on furniture, including around tea making area. TV remote didnt work, tv reception poor, tv small and up too high. lumpy mattress needs replacing. room large. one face washer and one hand towel for 2 guests. glasess still dirty. dining room very over priced. waiter wore baseball cap! no room service available, no mini bar. only 2 hard thin pillows. no feedback form in the room.

Thank you for your comments, msmarls, very sorry that you caught us on an off day.
We have been taking the issue of cleanliness very seriously because, obviously, that is a matter of importance, we are confident that things are on the up and up in that area.
Also, just to let you know, we recently 'bit the bullet' and installed all new flat screen TVs AND Foxtel, so, all in all, the Grange Experience is improving all the time, try us again sometime!
I would be the waiter (stand-in waiter), to whom you refer. Sorry, but it is my habit to wear my Grange on Farrelly peaked cap at all times - nothing to do with baseball I can assure you. Pricewise, our restaurant, we believe, still offers value for money relative to other Margaret River venues.

We visited Margaret River on the weekend of the Leeuwin Concert so most accommodation was booked out. Fortunately, the very helpful (and recommended) tourist office helped us to locate a room at The Grange for 2 nights after our initial night in the Margaret River Resort.

Although we preferred the Margaret River Resort, The Grange still offered large and comfortable rooms. In particular the four poster bed was even more comfortable to the one we slept in at the Margaret River Resort. Also, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and well provisioned. The only downside was that the room was a bit on the old fashioned side but that really wasn’t a problem.

Thank you for your comments, amani10, positive feedback is always welcome!
True, the good old Grange is a bit old fashioned, we don't resile from that, it is, in fact, one of our 'points of difference'.
Anyway, we were pleased to read your thoughts and thank you for sharing them with the greater public.
Regards,
Richard

Stayed at the Comfort Inn just one night. The location is great, just a couple of minutes from the main street. The room was large and nice looking.

Unfortunately not all previous guests followed the non-smoking rule, the air smelled like stale smoke, not helped by the full ashtray on the terrace, an oversight of the cleaners.

The main criticism is the sagging mattress, a little investment could have made it a good night's sleep.

The TV was tiny and no remote, hard to understand when 32'' LCDs go for $600 and universal remotes for less than $10.

All up great potential but made too little of it.

Thank you for your comments, share_this_story, so sorry that you got a smell of tobacco in your room, we do our best to educate people but occasionally it doesn't get through, overwhelmingly, though, this issue has not been a problem in recent years. Again our apologies.
We are progressively replacing matresses and we'd like to think that the saggers are now gone, the moment we detect one 'out she goes'.
In case you didn't read our response to another post, those TVs you complained about have GONE to that great analogue-tellyland in the sky, we now have flat screens and Foxtel at no extra charge!
Again, thanks for your comments and we hope you will give us another go soon.
Regards,
Richard

My partner and I were booked for 3 nights, running up to the new year. The location was great, walking distance to the centre of Margaret River. The room was average but spacious, although it looked as if the decor needed to be brought up to date . Considering the time of year the room rate was very reasonable. The one fly in the ointment was that upon check in we were asked to pay an additional charge of $20 for our final night, as an error was made on the website we had booked through and the room rate was not altered to reflect the time of year !!! My suggestion to the people in charge would be - bite the bullet and wear the cost and DONT ask the guest to pay for a mistake made by your own staff.

Hello, tamjea, thanks for the comment, yes, we make mistakes from time to time sorry about that one, we try to offer value for money at all times and we'd suggest that even the small increase would not have put us out of the money.
Overall, it seems you were satisfied and we are pleased about that, we look forward to welcoming you back one day.

Richard
