Burnside Organic Farm
Reviewed 2 February 2012

At first glance of this bungalow , it did not look very good . However , after looking around the place , we realized that it was a huge place with many things to do . Once you reach the place The owner's son would give you some organic eggs to cook. The eggs tasted delicious.
The organic farm is everything you need if you know how to cook. It ranges from vegetables such as lettuce to excellent tasting and smelling herbs such as rosemary . We had a chance to fed the chickens and even saw the father of all the chickens-the rooster. It was amusing to see all the chickens running around and pecking the ground in search for food.We borrowed some bicycles and had a whale of a time.We saw a gigantic pig in a cage an my brother had a fun time racing with it. They also had geese which quacked noisily . The best thing about Burnside Bungalows & Organic Farm was (and always will be) the apricots. Please note that you will be able to eat the juicy and sweet apricots at a certain season. We were lucky as the apricots ripened a week earlier so we were able to eat them. When you bite into the apricots(not the dried ones) the juice will explode out into your mouth and fill your mouth with a unique sweet taste. Trust me, it is addictive. Once you tried it , you definitely cannot stop. We might have plucked off a hundred apricots and finished them all in one day. My record was 11 apricots in one day. My brother ate more than 20 .There was a swing that was very fun-swing front then back again and again. It was very relaxing. One bad thing was that there were spiders in the bathtub .You could get them out yourself or ask for help when you see Lara , the owner of this wonderful place to stay. You could borrow VCD's too. I definitely enjoyed my wonderful stay . I hope to be there soon and wish you can also have a stay there. It will be an experience you will never forget.

We spent 2 nights in one of the rammed earth spa bungalows. It was a perfect weekend away, we eat organically and as much biodynamic food as possible so to see how this is done on a much larger scale was inspiring.

The bungalows are huge and equipped with everything you need to get away from it all. We where given the most yellowest of yellow eggs from their chickens and picked our own vegies to make breakfast. The farm has an easy walking track so you can see the boar, pigs, sheep, geese and cows. We also purchased some of the Zinfadel wine that they make organically; it is delicious and will definitely be ordering more!

We will definitely be back and would recommend Burnside to be in 1 of our top places to stay. It’s only a $15 cab fair from town for those who want to drink or just don’t feel like driving

There are so many organic inspired farm stays/retreats but seem to almost come off a bit pretentious, at Burnside we where greeted by Lara as though we where neighbours and instantly made to feel at home. The McCall family is onto a winner and you can see how passionate they are about what they do, the selection of sheets, handmade soap (with their own olive oil), heavy based pots and pans to the selection of magazines on the coffee table... We could not fault our stay and the only problem we had was that it was not long enough.

Thanks to the McCall family for an amazing weekend!

We've stayed in one of the rammed earth bungalows on several occasions. It is quite expensive but worth it - the bungalows are built and maintained to a high standard, the kitchens are well equipped, the gardens and farm are lovely for strolling around or relaxing. I really feel like I've got away from all city hassles when I come here.

We spent a week at Burnside Bungalows in early September and had a fantastic time. Our 16 month old loved the place, especially feeding the chooks and pigs. The bungalows are clean, spacious and very private - you feel like you have the place to yourself, apart from the odd roo visiting at sunset.

I'd recommend Burnside Bungalows to anyone looking for a base to explore Margaret River and wind down.

Lots of animals, like cows, pigs, geese and wild guinnea fowl and kangaroos. Lovely friendly family who runs it. Great location with generally only a short drive to many of the highlights in the area. Lots of space and cosy warm in winter with the fire on and the kitchen was stocked with pretty much all the utensils & stuff we needed with cooking 90% of our meals there. Comfy bed with nice sheets and blankets. And their wine is very drinkable too.

Burnside Bungalows are the perfect retreat with family. The individual, separated accommodations are peaceful and private. They are functional and attractive and the pot belly fire keeps them snug - even in a mini tornado!! The walks from the farm are fun and at dusk you will see many kangaroos. The owners are warm and welcoming and whilst it may be hard to tear yourself away from their farm, the local environment offers so much to do also. Would come back and stay at any opportunity. May have to bring some coffee beans next time so there is no excuse to leave the bungalow!

Its hard to find a way to start to describe the experience at Burnside Bungalows, and even harder to describe the difficulty of leaving at the end of our stay! From before even arriving Lara and Jamie are accommodating and helpful and then when you meet your lovely hosts you know that the vibe set is going to be the start of a relaxing experience. Welcomed with a smile, a carton or organic eggs and a tranquility that really lets you escape you are immediately relaxed and quickly settle into a wander through the organic vegie garden as you plan to cook more delicious meals than you possible have time to eat!

Once in your bungalow and you have the fire roaring, be prepared for a late dinner as you get lost in relaxation and a glass of Burnsides Zinfandel that you can buy from the office.

I could go on about the lovely situations presented here, but the best way to know about them is to go, visit, and find out for yourself! Highly recommend Burnside Bungalows if you want to get away and have a proper relaxing time, the only problem is that you have to go home again at the end!!!

Thankyou Lara and Jamie!!!!
