“Fabulous - will return with the kids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2008

Flew to Perth for a wedding so added a few days to see Margaret River. Were looking for something quiet and 'rural' to be a good base for the wineries and beaches. Yelverton Brook was perfect. Set about 1 mile off the main North/South road in a large wood, each chalet is barely visible from the next, and all are located among the trees. The chalet we stayed in was clean, with a milk/butter etc welcome in the fridge and freshly baked loaf from the proprietor that was handed over with the keys!
The decor is a wee bit on the chintzy side, but the bed was very comfortable (and we are very fussy about beds - bad backs etc), the shower had good flow, there was a TV, DVD player, HiFi and log fire. However, the best bit happens in the garden.
On the fridge are jars of Kangaroo, Possum and Bandicoot food. If you put these out at dusk, you will be rewarded with numerous visitors during the evening. We had, at one point, 8 kangaroos on the lawn, closely followed by bandicoots, possums and a rarer animal called a Wyoly <sp?>. In the day, beautiful parrots come to feed. The other great bit about the garden is the 6-seater hot tub - sitting in that with a bottle of fizz watching the shooting stars - fantastic!
Thoroughly recommend this to families with children - its less than 30 minutes from many vineyards and great beaches.

One of the most amazing places I have been.

The peace and tranquility is a great setting for romance or just to get away.

With a beautiful Chalet with all the creature comforts and probably the closest accomodation to the serene Margaret River wine region.

I was sitting in the heated outdoor sppa sipping champagne and thought this place is great and could not get any better then 5 min later I was hand feeding some kangaroos from the back door step....

Have just spent an amazing week at Yelverton Brook - in fact I liked it so much Joy & Simon very kindly put me up for another 2 nights as I couldn't drag myself away. Its a magical place with loads of friendly kangaroos, possums, parrots, bandicoots & other creatures all wanting to be your friend.

Joy & Simon are the nicest people you could wish to meet and went out of there way to make me feel comfortable & at home after the friend I was staying with had to leave mid way through the week. The chalets are huge, super clean & have everything you could possibly need. The outdoor spa was fantastic - words can't describe how amazing it is to lay in a hot spa with a glass of wine admiring the millions of stars.

There is so much to do & see around the area and everywhere I went I was struck by the friendliness of everyone.

The whole area is so beautiful & clean & generally pretty awe inspiring. I'll definitely be returning when I get the chance.

Thank you both for an amazing time

This is one of the places you really want to keep going back to. There are only 5 chalets, separated from each other, so total privacy. Huge outdoor spas ready whenever you feel like one, day or night for each chalet. Joy and Simon the owners also provide fresh cooked bread, eggs etc for breakfast. The main attraction are the animals, birds galore, woylies an endangered species, kangaroos and joeys, possums etc. The animals are so tame you can pet to your hearts content, and if you dont shut the door to the chalet will follow you inside. The owners even include food for you to feed everyone. This place is a conservation area, the animals roam free within the area, and it has huge fences to keep them safe with the site. It has a/c. heat, bbq, full kitchen, tv everything anyone could want. Give it top rating.

Absolutely wicked stay. Spa under the stars was a treat, Joy organised everything for me and made me look like a star for my wife.

Wildlife is fantastic - as with other reviews we had the "regulars" - kangaroo's possums that play around and have way too much fun, bandicoots that are a little shy, tiny joeys that just jump around for the fun of it. The place comes with food that you can use to feed the animals on their property, so you get real up close with them and they are tame, so feeding by hand is fun.

I booked in a massage as well in the room, and it is really worth it on a lazy sunday afternoon. 10 minutes drive from Margaret River, so you can get a tourist fix if required.

I'd go again in a flash.

We arrived to find 4 roos [kangaroos to us non Australians] on our doorstep. This was really cool. I was concerned that we would leave Oz without a Kangaroo sighting.
The chalet had everythign that you could need. The decor was a bit too rustic for me. I immediately put the 5 teddybears, potpourri etc out of sight.
Other than that small point it was a really good stay. Joy [our host] could not have been more helpful. The spa under the stars was a real luxury.
We enjoyed cooking in as the kitchen had all the necessary appliances.
Whale watching was a bit hit . We had a gorgeous lunch at Clairault winery.
Probably not a place for someone looking for nightlife. We tried to get a taxi to the winery for lunch & failed miserably so you should plan on nights in unless your willing to drive.
I was a little disappointed that the walking trails were not longer but then again the property is small [100 acres] so it would be difficult to have long walking trails.
We enjoyed.
