We have been staying at Yelverton over some years now and even tho we are regular travelers to the margret river region and tried many and variouse accomodation styles we always end up back at Yelverton. There isn't enough room here to tell you how wonderfull and relaxing it is to escape from the rat race at the Yelverton eco retreat. Then to return home ready and refreshed with wonderfull memories of another great stay.

As the other reviewers have said, we were greeted at the patio by the roos! They are not daft. guests means food. The Chalets, set in woodlands, were very well kitted out, with everything you could need for a relaxing stay. The bedroom decor was a bit chinzie, but so cozy.
We did not watch much telly at nights as all the entertainment was outside on the lawn. Roos, bandicots, Possums, wylies (very rare, I believe)
In the mornings, parrots and other birds occupied the trees, coming down for the special food we put out for them.
This place is a little out of the way, half way between Marg. River and Busselton, so bring all your food and drinks with you. Then you don't need to spend your precious time driving up and down the highway, when you could be lying in the hot tub with a glass of wine, looking up at the millions of stars to seen in the night sky.

We have just got back from a 4 night stay at this place. Its just what we wanted and expected based on their web site and the reviews on Tripadvisor. On getting to the chalet we were greeted by one of the local kangaroos and many more came to visit us during our stay.

The chalet itself is comfortable whilst not being too over the top. You come to this place to see the animals, get away from people and to take it easy. Whilst is is possible to see the other chalets (if you try hard) we really felt we had the whole place to ourselves. You will not see the other people staying unless you go looking. What you will see though is plenty of animals!

The spa is nice. A great place to unwind at the end of the day.

We would love to come back. In fact, we did not want to leave.

Our family of 2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 8 years old) stayed at this property in early December 2008.
The location of this property is somewhere between Dunsborough and Margaret River (about 25 minutes). There are about 4 chalets in a rural bush setting. There is a "back-to-nature" kind of vibe and the chalets are like farm cottages.
Although our chalet was not spanking new, there was attention to detail in the sense that the owners had thoughtfully placed extra towels (with sweets) for us, the shampoo / conditioner / soap were organic and of good quality, a freshly baked loaf of bread awaited us when we arrived, there were many books, videos and CDs stocked in the living area etc.
The great draw would be the many animals that roam freely in this property. My kids were ecstatic to see the kangaroos, woylies, possums, monitor lizard, birds etc and to be able to feed them at our front lawn. For city kids, this was a real treat and the 1st morning, my son deliberately woke up early to see which animals would be waiting for him on the lawn. At night, it was also fun to spot animals coming up to our door. Even my husband (not an animal lover) seemed excited to see the wild life.
There was an outdoor heated spa which we enjoyed, sitting under a canopy of trees and watching the kids excitedly interacting with the kangaroos.
Although there were so many of these creatures, the property was not dirty but well maintained.
Would recommend this to families with young children, especially the urbanites. It's a fun experience for them.

We are always a little suspicious when we see glowing reviews of a property, so we'll downplay this one by saying we had a magnificent (rather than stupendous) four-day stay at Yelverton. It is set in a nature preserve so the animal life is plentiful and much in evidence. The kangaroos are a bit too food-needy, but cute nonetheless. But what we really loved was the quiet, the well-appointed self-contained chalets and the price was pretty reasonable for what you got. This one is a winner! And very proximate to the Margaret River wine country, so lots of wineries are within 10-20 minute driving distance. This place is special and we strongly recommend it.

  • Liked — The natural preserve
  • Disliked — Not much support from the owners -- they were out of town

Regarding the "dislike comment" about owners out of town, we were on a well deserved camping holiday up north for the month preceding the guests holiday at Yelverton Brook so some tardy responses to our clients email questions did happen, we apoligise.
We like to leave our guests in privacy in their spa chalet but with the new office now in operation, the reception area has improved.

WOW!!! What can I say... a rare find, magical, simply awesome! Imagine being greeted by kangaroos at the verandah, feeding them out of your hands. One of them even followed us into the chalet, sending my little daughter into squeals of delight. The possum and the baby of its back was equally fascinating and we had so much fun watching the wildlife that it was hard to concentrate on our barbeque dinner. The chalet was very well equipped and had everything you could possibly need. Coming from Singapore, we were not used to the cold nights and we therefore fully appreciate the reverse cycle air-conditioning and the heated bathroom floor after stepping out of the outdoor spa. Rod (who was helping out the owners Simon and Joy) was ever so helpful and did not seem to mind our thousand and one questions before or during our stay. It was hard dragging ourselves away in the morning. Highly recommended.

Flew to Perth for a wedding so added a few days to see Margaret River. Were looking for something quiet and 'rural' to be a good base for the wineries and beaches. Yelverton Brook was perfect. Set about 1 mile off the main North/South road in a large wood, each chalet is barely visible from the next, and all are located among the trees. The chalet we stayed in was clean, with a milk/butter etc welcome in the fridge and freshly baked loaf from the proprietor that was handed over with the keys!
The decor is a wee bit on the chintzy side, but the bed was very comfortable (and we are very fussy about beds - bad backs etc), the shower had good flow, there was a TV, DVD player, HiFi and log fire. However, the best bit happens in the garden.
On the fridge are jars of Kangaroo, Possum and Bandicoot food. If you put these out at dusk, you will be rewarded with numerous visitors during the evening. We had, at one point, 8 kangaroos on the lawn, closely followed by bandicoots, possums and a rarer animal called a Wyoly <sp?>. In the day, beautiful parrots come to feed. The other great bit about the garden is the 6-seater hot tub - sitting in that with a bottle of fizz watching the shooting stars - fantastic!
Thoroughly recommend this to families with children - its less than 30 minutes from many vineyards and great beaches.
