My partner and I had the very good fortune to choose staying with Neil Day for 8 nights (his longest term guests so far). We were in Palmy (as the locals call the place) to visit with family and meet a new granddaughter. Neil's home is just that...homey. Neil is a natural host, good natured and very accommodating to requests. Every morning he was bright and chirpy, cooking up whatever you would like to eat. We had great chats each morning whilst he cooked. Neil has cooking all manner of eggs down to a 't'. His pancakes are terrific, you must try them out. We love our breakfasts so this was great for us. Neil has a generous continental assortment as well. Our room was with the double bed and the smaller of the two bedrooms. Whilst not large, having two areas to put clothes in drawers helps and being able to hang a few things as well we managed. Neil spruces up the room every day and changes the towels, refreshes water...nice. The fast internet connection was terrific. There is a spa but we did not use this, other guests said how relaxing it was for them. We visited the Lido leisure centre and Neil kindly loaned us towels.
The bathroom is a highlight, all personally and beautifully tiled by Neil. The shower is brilliant...lots of lovely hot water on every occasion. We found no difficulty sharing the bathroom with other guests during our stay. Staying for a long length of time as we did, we felt so at home. You will be assured of a quality stay at Wellsbourne at a very reasonable price. Go on book this place.

Room Tip: Either bedroom is well appointed and very clean.....front room has the queen bed and is the larger bedroom.

Comfortable room, friendly host, excellent breakfast, great value for money, home baked cookies to welcome me in my room , as well a complimentary lift to the airport.

I'd highly recommend this B and B to anyone requiring to stay in Palmerston North. It certainly exceeded my expectations.

My husband and I chose this B&B as we were relocating from Canada to Palmerston North. As it turned out, we really lucked out and this was the perfect place to stay. The host, Neil Day, is extremely kind and went out of his way on a daily basis. He picked us and all of our luggage up from the bus terminal, cooked up delicious breakfasts every morning, cleaned our room while we were out, and even provided homemade cookies upon arrival! Neil has lived for a number of years in Palmy and is full of great information about the city and surrounding area. We really enjoyed hearing his stories and picking his brain about New Zealand during breakfast. The accommodation itself is fantastic! The room is equipped with fast internet, comfortable beds, tea & coffee, and plenty of natural sunlight. The bathrooms have toiletries and fresh towels daily. The backyard even features a spa pool for a quick afternoon dip. If you fancy a night out, Cuba Street is only a few blocks away and features the Cuba Cafe- one of the best in Palmy. Fabulous place to stay- highly recommended!!!

We chose this location as it is a comfortable 2 hr drive to Wellington and the ferries. Located in the centre and just off a main road it is remarkably quiet and a lovely renovated villa style property. Paul as host goes out of his way to make you enjoy your stay with homemade biscuits and sweets in the room, an excellent high tech media library, wi fi etc. There is full array of toiletries in the bathroom and the breakfast is top quality. It really is excellent value and worth trying if you are looking for somewhere to stay in this area.

Great accommodation (clean and tidy) with friendly and lovely host. The bed was comfy and the breakfast delicious. Within walking minutes to square. I highly recommend this place for a stay in Palmy. Hope to be back one day.
