My word is the lonely planet spot on with its description of this place. The lady at the front desk had the audacity of telling us off for not bringing our passports with us. Last time I checked backpackers accomodation didn't require interntional idenification. She also threatened to not let us stay because of our passports were back in Tauranga where we live. When questioned as to why we "should" have had our passports on us she replied "incase you are in an accident and we like to see who is staying in our house". How a passport will help you in an accident I'm not sure and maybe she thinks that terrorists will have a special stamp in their passports. Not that terrorists would come to New Zealand as it's so empty.
It was a pretty building but it didnt quite make up for the fact that the lady at the front desk was horrendously rude.
