We had a picnic at this very peaceful place. The waterfall was very cold which was lovely on such a hot day. I was unsure whether the children would enjoy but they loved running around and hiding from us.

Visit at any time of the year but particularly lovely in the water lilly season. Wander around the tranquil grounds of open spaces, native bush and beautiful waterlilly ponds. Climb up to the waterfall and come back down for lunch at Koru, Food to write home about . A marvellous chef.

I was really surprised to see 'average' rating given to this place by some reviewers. Having stayed in various places in New Zealand and overseas, I am confident that this one epitomises the definition of 'boutique'. The setting is tranquil and romantic, the owners are extremely friendly and laid-back. The accommodation has everything you need and has a character. The gardens are not what I initially expected, which does not mean disappointment. One can appreciate the amount of effort put in maintaining them, especially after they were affected by the flood several times. Keep up the good work!

We spent out first three nights of our recent trip to NZ at Rapaura. Booked to stay in the cottage we were upgraded to the lodge. Raised level with the trees it was hard to know which of the many decks to view the surrounding scenery from! The lodge was very tastefully furnished, more a home-stay than anything. Our hosts, Sally and Sasha, ensured a very pleasant stay. As a lodge guest we had access to the wonderful gardens 27/7. Early morning strolls where joined by a posse of ducks and evenings gave us a sense of total isolation although the owners live on-site. A little bit of Heaven on Earth.

I have visited many gardens throughout the World and rate this amongst the best for its natural beauty, layout and tranquility. Following the path around the first part of the gardens you'll discover works of art that fit well within the style of private garden and bush walk. The second section is on a grander scale with the large lily pond framed by natural bush and mountains. Exploring a valley bush trail you reach the gem of this water garden, 'The Seven Stairs to Heaven' a cascading waterfall that invites you to sit and relax.

The gardens have a wonderful cafe, Koru, that serves a wide range of meals and snacks all freshly made and reasonably priced.

This is a very popular tourist stop. Relaxing garden walks and places for meditation and contemplation. A beautiful setting and a great little restaurant too.
