“We love it to bits!”

This Café has become our favourite in this area and we try to get to it regularly to sample the delicious food and the warm welcome. This is not your "Ponsonby Rd" style café. It is more honest and keeps it's menu restricted to delicious things it does brilliantly. The kitchen is not large enough to be all things to all people. Parking is never a problem. There is multiple choice for seating. You can sit inside, on the deck, outside under cover or outside in the garden. The new owners are developing the garden further as time allows. As previously mentioned by Steve W the date and orange muffins are superb as are the steak and kidney pies. We have never had anything but the friendliest encounters with stunningly fresh and tasty food. Dogs are also welcome in the outside area which is great if you travel with your pet/s.

“Just an average country cafe”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

We have visited the Native Tree Cafe several times in the past but decided to check it out again.
Parking was easy as it is in the country and they have their own off highway carpark.

As we walked in the whole property appeared a lot more rustic than on previous visits and looked a little tired. It certainly was not up to the standard of the newly renovated cafe just round the corner, the Wood Turners Cottage. It was noticeable that some of the tables had not been cleared after previous patrons and the staff certainly looked under pressure.

Service was OK for a small cafe, taking about 15 minutes. The cabinet food is a good quality and reasonably priced, while the coffee is very good and nicely presented. the pie and salad wsa reasonably priced at $9.00

All day cafes have moved ahead in leaps and bounds, but unfortunately the Native Tree Cafe has not kept up with the pace. I would class it as a comfortable and convenient cafe, rather than a contemporary and trendy cafe. Unless there is a considerable improvement I doubt if we would go back again.
