A perfect getaway for those looking to rejuvenate in a serene environment. We loved listening to the bird-song or watching the sun set while having our meals at the veranda. Extremely well-equipped and clean unit. We had everything we need!

Hosts, Murray and Michael, were lovely and kind - probably the best I've met on this trip. I'm sure they would have much success with this place :)

Hi Maxxice
Thankyou for such a raving review. We are happy to here you enjoyed yoyrselves and your kind words about us as hosts means a lot. We do our best to treat everyone who visits as if they were family friends, in part as that is how we like to be treated ourselves. I guess the next level would have been if one of our wives were to do a beautiful cooked roast :-)

We stayed one night for our wedding anniversary and liked the location. It was lovely swimming in the stream and using the string hammock over the water! The 2 bdm cottage was basic and very bachlike - not quite up to the standard I was hoping for. But comfortable enough. The shower is tiny and there are no views from the cottage we stayed in. I would prefer to stay in one of the chalets next time.

Room Tip: If you're a couple, try the chalet. The 2bdm cottage is good for a family.

Hi Yvonne

Thankyou for your review, it is much appreciated. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the property of Te Mata Lodge and at the same time am sorry if you felt the two bedroom cottage was misrepresented on bookabach. We will review this and try to portray it better. If your booking had been made further in advance I am sure you would have enjoyed the chalet as they are a 2006 build with a larger shower and more modern feel.

We had our engagement party at Te Mata lodge, it will probably top the wedding it was such an incredible experience! We stayed in a chalet for 5 nights, with guests staying in the cottages & cabins. The kitchen was fully stocked to cook anything you wanted, as well a bbq on the deck. The wide open flat field was perfect to set up, even the largest marquee. We went with a parachute, ask Michael about that if you need a marquee. The river running through the property was one of the highlights for all of the guests including ourselves. We took canoe's out, swung the rope swing into the cool fresh water, hung in the hammock over the stream next to the rushing water over the log. We gathered gem stones, and beautiful rocks, we picked wild blackberries and white peaches, the grapes weren't quite ready so look for those! The morning after our party we picked muscles from Te Mata beach, they supplied us with buckets and they have shoes to wear. We had big cook up's down by the river and ate family style around the big table, there is a bbq there also. They have so many fun activities for kids around the property; glow worms, trampoline, petanque, croquette, badminton, hikes to take and Michael is working on a mountain bike track which is exciting! Murray, Dorothy, Michael and Jovana made it such an incredible experience, always there to help if we needed anything. You really feel like your in God's land, secluded from the world, but with everything you need... including 100mb of Wifi a day (just enough to keep you in touch, and still outside). Oh and the fishing off the rocks was rad! All in all, can't say enough about this place, it is truly magical, and you will love it!

Room Tip: The fitness center is the woods around you, and all the great activities so make use of it! The Chal...

Thankyou for such a raving review Joanna
We thoroughly enjoyed having you and your family and friends stay with us for your engagement party. The way you set things up was inspirational and we really enjoyed the part we played in the whole occasion. Unlike other guests you and Charlie really made full use of all the property had to offer and so you got to enjoy discovering many of the hidden 'gems' of Te Mata Lodge.
Glad you found the kitchen well stoked with all the equipment you needed for cooking and we wish you guys all the best for your American wedding.
Bless you guys and we hope to see you back again next time round.

We absolutely loved our stay. We felt so at home and were greeted right from our car and looked after throughout our stay. We felt much more like we were visiting family and never like we were just customers. The Lodge is so lovely and peacefull, a wonderful place just to get away and have some much deserved time out. So affordable and with lots of extra facilities that were kindly offered free of charge. We certainly will be back and bringing others along with us.

Te Mata Lodge is a secluded and pristine little piece of paradise on the Coromandel. We had 3 nights in the two bedroom cottage, and one in the one-bedroom next door. The hosts are wonderful, the location gorgeous, the cottages cosy, spotless, well-equipped and comfortable, and the river swimming hole is a pure delight. The surrounding area for hiking and exploring is great...and the property is well-located to serve as a base to explore the Peninsula. Te Mata Lodge is the whole package, folks, well-deserving of its high rating.

We received a very warm and genuine welcome at Te Mata Lodge. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The setting is spectacular - in the bush by the river. You really feel you are away from the world. Our kids (7 and 10) loved all of the facilities, in particular the trampoline and large lawn for running around. The location was about 20 minutes drive from Thames. Quite a few places around to eat. Lovely to be able to drive (or walk 15 minutes) down the road to the beach. It was really an ideal place for us to stay.

Hi Becky,
Thanks for the helpful review. It was great to meet you all and enjoyable to see you all having a great time. We were also impressed by your hubby heading out cycling for decent times on holiday. For those reading this I would add depending on how far guests want to travel there is lots of food places within 20-30 minutes drive. If guests prefer not to travel so far there is fish'n'chips five minutes away.
