“Over and beyond what one might expect with much kindness”
Reviewed 28 January 2014

Due to my pop's recent sudden drop in health and then passing away, our large extended family were in need of a lot of accommodation and at very short notice. Susie and Drew were welcoming and understanding from the start and went out of their way to accommodate us - as much as delivering two mattresses to our family home out of their own goodwill to help with the bedding, and making available as many beds as possible at Kauri Villas B&B. They provided us the tranquil healing space that family needed to spend precious time together supporting one another, and sharing our stories and memories of pop from the past.

Thank you Susie and Drew. We are most grateful for the kindness and loving support you gave us at this important time.

Blessings - Donna

I had to find accommodation for quite a large group and stumbled across the "Kauri Villas" online. I'm so glad I found them!! My extended family and I stayed at there for a week. We had quite a large group and Susie and Drew were simply fantastic in helping me organise accommodation for us all. They were wonderful hosts; completely respecting our privacy but also bending over backwards to help us out.

The lodgings themselves were fantastic and had exceptionally comfortable beds. The property is very tranquil and calm, perfect for getting away and reducing stress levels. There's a local walk through the property, past a waterfall that my sister said was really enjoyable. And the views from the rooms and the pool area are just breath-taking. Next time I'll plan to spend more time around the pool.

I would not hesitate for a second, recommending Kauri Villas to anyone.
I know that I'll be returning, that's for certain!!
I wish we could have stayed longer, will be sure to do so next time.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are great. The lodge is perfect for a large group of family. I also slept in the an...

My wife and I stayed at Kauri Villas for 3 nights as part of our Christmas and New Year break, this was not our main venue but soon after arriving and meeting Susie and Drew we wish we had booked in for longer, we were soon made to feel very comfortable and "at home" in the suite of 3 rooms which were wonderful value. The history of the Villa and and how it came to be is almost as interesting as Drew and Susie themselves who are wonderful hosts and always ready to spend time with you and nothing is too much trouble - they love their 'job' and it shows!

The Villa and the surrounding area views are amazing and there is so much to see and do (even at the Villa so no need worry about the weather!), we loved the area and our stay at Kauri Villas and it was topped off by the most delicious big breakfasts, a real feast with home made bread and jams - Wonderful!!

We will definitely be going back again and soon! Thanks Drew and Susie, see you soon.

Room Tip: All room are great, just depends how many people sharing! :-)

Booked out the lodge and annex room for 9 of us over New Years for 5 nights.

Drew & Susie were wonderful, incredibly helpful with everything that we could do around the region, giving us torches and directions for the caves, the best beaches to go to etc. Also were great with giving us everything we needed while staying in our accomodation - including polo set, table tennis etc which was great to use on their lawn.

With regards to the accommodation - this too was fantastic, with comfortable beds and ensuites/bathrooms. Great kitchen and dining area both inside and with a good bbq and outside deck for dining with beautiful view of sunset and surrounding area.

Overall was a fantastic experience and would thoroughly recommend Kauri Villas for any groups, be it large or small.

This was the perfect place for us to stay to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. Drew and Susie were generous hosts and could not have been more helpful. The setting is magnificent and the accommodation was lovely. We stayed in the lodge, which is furnished with everything you could possibly need, but also had the benefit of Drew's delicious breakfast. We made use of the pool and spa and the games room. Drew gave us all the information we needed about local beaches and activities and even lent us head torches to adventure into the Abbey Caves. The icing on the cake was when Drew, a qualified flying instructor, took Ian up for a flight from Whangarei airport. We cannot thank them enough for making the weekend special and we will definitely be back!

Stayed 3 nights in self-catering unit. Very well appointed! Comfortable, beautiful location, hot tub, friendly pets, gracious hosts and delicious home-made marmalade. What more could you ask for? Recommend for anyone who wants a quiet, peaceful location.

Planned to stay one night and stayed three. Best marmalade jam i have tasted. Very tastefully furnished . Loved the cows, sheep, chooks and Rimi the dog and the two cats.
