“Beautiful Gardens Tucked Away in an Old Quarry”

I was totally blown away by this garden. I am not sure how many people know about it as it was devoid of visitors. Many plants were in bloom and I enjoyed trying to identify them. The waterfall was impressive as well.

“Amazing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2012

The vision of the people who made this happen have my admiration. It is a lovely place to visit and wander around and to take visitors too. It continues to develop and grow and changes every time you visit. so worth the effort and so close to the city, though you would never know.

“A day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2012

My first visit to these gardens, and an amazing way to transform an old quarry. I visited on a gorgeous sunny day, and my only company along the way were tui's, monarch butterflies & bees, and a plethora of other birds. The area has been put together by volunteers, and they have done an amazing job - congratulations. There is a small waterfall, and pond area with a small creek running through the gardens, a dry cacti area, and orchids all over the place. A great place for a picnic. No fee but I'm sure a donation would be much appreciated

“Flowers in mid winter”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2012

Walked through the gardens between rain showers and were surprised by the variety of flowers - camelias, orchids and cacti (huge ones). The walks are varied and there are a number of microclimates containing a wide variety of plants. The gardens are steadily developing and in winter the waterfalls make a great backdrop.

“A gemstone that is free!”

What a great way to ransform the old quarry. The smells of the plants enhances the walk. I only got to see a small part and will be back for more.
