“Modern room but not exactly a river view.”
Reviewed 4 January 2014

Upgraded to one of the nicer rooms and payed extra for the riverside room. I felt a little mislead as I thought this would have a view of the river, reality was tree's and main road. This being said, everything was modern and clean and I would stay again, but wouldn't pay extra for the view!

8 people for family gathering 14 Dec 2013. Yet again no complaints at all. Great evening, wait staff keep food table full, (and a great table it was as well,) and guest table clear. Bar staff friendly. Upon leaving I did ask Rick (the manager) to covey my thanks to the Chef and Kitchen staff for a great evening, and to let them know that I thought the food was still up to its normal high standards

A small group of us stayed at Discovery Settlers Hotel for a work function (2 nights). The rooms were lovely with a nice view of the river and the beds were very comfortable.
We used the Hatea room for our conference by day, which was exactly what we needed. The staff organised a delicious lunch for us and kept us refreshed with drinks.
By night we had dinner in their fantastic restaurant. The meals were served quite quickly and we thought the food was fantastic - great chef!
Thank you for a lovely stay, we will be back!

Room Tip: The rooms in the front block by the road are lovely and spacious. They're all really nicely done...

Stayed at the Settlers for three nights this month. The place is clean, the staff is very nice and helpful. They have free self serve laundry facilities, Good inexpensive wifi and a good continental breakfast. Within easy walking distance of downtown and water front activities and restaurants is also a plus. We had a street side room which you'd think would be noisy but it was extremely quiet. How do they do that? They must have some serious soundproofing on those sliders! I would recommend this hotel with no reservations.

This hotel was convenient and comfortable. We were there only one night and only required a bed for the night as we had other arrangements so sorry cannot comment on the restaurant nor the pool area (to my disappointment) but found the room spacious, lovely big open warddrobe and king bed. We were on the second floor (only two stories high) second or third on the left in from the main entrance. The property has a large frontage with huge trees which is lovely to look at from our window but unfortunately fill of prickles so wear shoes when wandering outside on the grass. The room was very clean and had the necessities (my only comments would be the large cobweb which was between the window and shutter in the bathroom could have been taken care of - not actually in the room and the window facing the road was difficult to open) otherwise very clean and tidy. Walking distance to town is approx 1 km.

Room Tip: There are rooms with balcony's or opening doors onto the frontage if you want inside/outside flo...

Went there for staff christmas function not impressed with the food. Large group, when our table got to food it was cold, roast vegetables were dry and over cooked. Selection was poor, no christmas pudding or cake, no icecream or cream, fruitsalad was out of a tin. Have had a lot nicer food there before, disappointing.
