The hostel is a bit run down and the decor is pretty old fashioned which you will probably either love or hate. The place is clean though and there is plenty of space to hang out in with a couple of lounges and a bar. The rooms were clean however they advertise themselves as having no bunk beds however my room had a couple of bunk beds that were all super high with no rail on the side that made me a bit uneasy sleeping in them!
Really I can't see why you would stay in Greymouth, I only stayed here because it was a compulsory overnight stop on the Magic Bus, but if you find yourself stuck here its not a bad option mainly due to the free unlimited wi-fi/internet. the free home cooked scones are tasty too although maybe it would be nice if they had a set time that they gave them out each evening. Staff are pretty friendly too which helps.
