“Beautiful rural property.”
Reviewed 6 April 2012

This B & B is on the outskirts of Hokitika and is just so quiet and relaxing. We were the only guests there on our stay and had been upgraded to the "gazebo" room complete with four poster bed and an enormous ensuite bathroom. The whole place is furnished to a very high standard, the bedlinen and curtains are luxurious and the accommodation is immaculately clean. Our continental breakfast was served in the dining room, a cooked breakfast was offered. We enjoyed a complimentary, welcoming glass of wine in the garden and other bottles were available at a moderate cost. A communal bar and kitchenette was also available to us for the making of tea/coffee etc. Laurie was a welcoming but unobtrusive host, willing to advise us on our onward travels and local dining - he even gave us a voucher for a free drink at a local pub!
This was possibly the best appointed accommodation of our five week stay in New Zealand. Thank you Laurie.

We enjoyed the Woodland Glen Lodge. The accomodations were excellent and we loved the rural quiet. The hosts were very gracious and could not have been more helpful -offering to pick us up in Greymouth and driving us to the local airport the next day. I would definitely recommend Hokitika and this property.-N&D Toronto Canada

This is a real gem. I was lucky enough to be the only guest so had my choice of rooms and the run of the lounge. I was in the "window room" - basically no outside walls just windows (though with drapes for those who don't like to see outside). You Might feel exposed but it is completely private. I loved it! Very modern / new bathroom. Comfortable lounge. Generous breakfast. Close to town but in a quiet setting. This is my 4th BnB on my NZ trip And is tops so far.

This is the second time we have stayed at Woodland Glen Lodge. We find it a very relaxing being away from any main roads and noise. We stayed in the Moeraki suite (again) which we find suits our needs, just a step away from the gardens and with the privacy of being on the end of the lodge. Breakfast is served in a casual and friendly manner. All in all a very nice place to stay with reasonable rates.

We only spent one night here but would have loved to have stayed longer. As previously mentioned the owners was very helpful, took the trouble to set up sky box so that we could watch the rugby match. We stayed in the Moeraki suite which is a octagonal glass room complete with a 4 poster queen sized bed very nice room.

We only spent one night at this B & B but would have been very happy to have spent longer. Beautiful setting, delightful room with excellent and friendly service. The owner was exceptionally helpful. The house is very unusual with lots of interesting touches and many 'social' areas both inside and in the fabulous garden. Would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

We travelled for quite a few months in NZ and standards of b&b had been great until Woodland. The drive down the drive is impressive, the host is quite friendly if you try hard. Our room was a conservatory by any other name with a bed in it - more like a goldfish bowl. Perhaps the marketing should take the word luxury from it's paperwork. It is a good base if you are a businessperson but luxury holiday it is not when compared to other establishments.

I feel the reviewer was in accurate with her comments. Our tariff and facilities certainly reflect the quality of the premises. The reviewer booked online and had the opportunity see what rooms were available and had the opportunity to ask for another room on check in. The room complained of is our most popular ensuite and had just been renovated, including a new bathroom. Should the reviewer wanted more, prehaps she should have booked into a $350.00 a night B & B offerring room service and the extras.
