We stayed for 3 nights with Keith & Marilyn by the sea in Kaikoura. We had an independent unit attached to their home, with separate bedroom, lounge and shower room. It wasn't overlooked or conspicuous, so we could lay in bed or sit in the lounge looking at the view over the sea (and watching the seagulls)!

Marilyn provided a very nice, simple, Continental breakfast in our room each evening, which we could eat at our own convenience in the morning. We felt under no pressure to rush up and we much appreciated the chance to do our own thing.

Keith & Marilyn were very helpful in giving us advice about the area, restaurants, etc. Kailoura isn't the cheapest place in New Zealand, but we thought the Thai Restaurant was really good value.

I recently stayed at WatersEdge and was overwhelmed with the location, I have never relaxed so much in any of the other many places I have travelled to. The waterfront venue with its sweeping views of mountains and sea are beyond words, and hosts Marilyn & Ketih went out of their way to ensure our restful stay, not many hosts go the extra mile but they made us feel very welcomed, having our own private lounge we could chill out if we wanted to or have a chat and a drink with them on their deck. Many many thanks K & M :)

Waters Edge is on the coast road north east of the centre of town, on the peninsula, and on the way to the seal colony. It's beautifully situated with its back garden leading down to the shoreline and stunning views of the sea and the mountains.

Marilyn, Keith and daughter Lisa were very friendly and helpful and it was good to talk to them. Our accommodation felt like a home from home, with a separate lounge area and decking for eating outside. It was very comfortable and well equipped and we could not have asked for anything more.

They were able to suggest some good walks and we can recommend the walk around the top of the Peninsula for marvellous views. NB wi-fi is not available, although Marilyn was perfectly happy to offer her PC for emails etc. Free wifi is however available at the Coffee Cart on Beach Road near Subway.

We stayed at Waters Edge for 2 nights while on a short trip to NZ. The lovely appointed bedroom looks right onto the water and to your left amazing snow capped mountains. There is also a warm cosey lounge with a view where we relaxed in the afternoons. We took a really enjoyable walk to the seal colony. We loved Kaikoura township with lots of great eating spots and Marlyin and Keith were friendly and really helpful with local information. Hope to go back soon!

Do you want to get away from it all, hear the soft sound of waves breaking on the beach as you drift off to sleep (in the comfortable bed )? How about eating a delicious breakfast gazing at the waves and distant snow covered hills then Waters Edge B&B is the place for you. Marilyn and Keith will certainly look after you and make you feel at home. They also know all about the region and directed us to an amazing hidden spot where you could see 30 or more baby seals playing under a waterfall. A great room with your own private lounge - everything we needed. A wonderful place to stay and would certainly recommend it.
