Mediterranean Motel Kaikoura
Ranked #13 of 20 Hotels in Kaikoura
Reviewed 6 January 2013

Very clean and comfortable with very friendly and helpful host. Great being able to use the laundry. We stayed 3 nights but only drawback was it was too far out of town with no beach access nearby and as it's on the main road it was very noisy in the day but ok at night. Noticed most motels seemed to be on the same Beach Rd - means to the beach not near!- so same problem. Nevertheless we had a great time and love Kaikoura.

Thanks for commenting on your stay at the Comfort Inn Kaikoura Mediterranean Motel. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry you weren't aware that beach access is right across the road from the motel. I will add this information to the compendium in the room, so other people are made aware of this fact. Hope to see you again one day.

never experience such bad host service in my entire life, noisy at night since it is very close to the entrance of highway, can't even sleep at night. After arriving the area, saw there are quite a number of motel there, so there should be better choice at the area. Thinking carefully if you have to choose this one or you will regret. Definitely would not recommend people to choose this and never stay again.

Thank you for your comments, though not sure whether we are talking about the same motel. Since you are using a nom de plume, I can not verify you actually staying with us. As your comments are during the quietest times of the year, you must be one of the lightest sleepers around. I am afraid I am very disappointed with your score on cleanliness, service and our rooms, as we pride ourselves being one of the best in this area. We can not be beaten on value, so again I am somewhat uncertain, as to what this exactly means. I'm sorry you did not have a good experience, but hope it didn't spoil your holiday in NZ.

This inn is the first to your right when entering the city limits of Kaikoura from Picton to Christchuch. The traffic is still moving fast or already accelerating, so it is a bit noisy. The double glazing doesn't stop all the sounds. The rooms are clean, complete. Friendly staff.

Room Tip: Try to get one at the end.

Thank you for your time to review our motel. Admittedly too many ignorant truck drivers who think they are they only ones in this world and don't need to stick to 50 kms in a 50 km zone.
I am glad you found our motel up to scratch.

First of all, our friends looked at this place and thought it would be good for our stay of 7 night stay, as we were travelling with others who lived in the area. The first 3 nights were wonderful and we had a lovely room, close to the laundry. The owners were very courteous and our room was very clean.
Loved the patio behind where you could look up and see the mountains.
It was close for our friends to come and pick us up to see the local sights and attractions.

We returned for the end of our road trip, and we were given the room right by the check in.
Very busy and not close to the laundry, and it was for the last four nights in NZ.
It wasn't really how we wanted to remember our trip,BUT our good friends made up for it, as we were picked up every day to see the local sites and to eat at the local coffee shops.
Very busy motel as it is right on the bend going in and out of Kaikoura.

Room Tip: Be sure to request a room to the RIGHT of the check-in, especially if you are staying more than a fe...

It seems from your comments that you had a good time at our motel. Unfortunately the motel was rather full during February when you returned for another 4 day stint. If you had communicated with us that you would have liked the same room or a room closer to the laundry, I'm sure we could have done something for you. I didn't realize that being next to the reception does create a bit of noise (people walking in and out of all), for which I apologize. I'm glad though that you had a good time in NZ. Thank you for your comments.

It's a no thrills motel. The owner was very courteous, room was very clean. And as a bonus he was the only accommodation of our trip who supplied free Wi-Fi. We went whale watching from there and the owner was able to give us accurate info on how the weather would be. For a budget place I strongly recommend this place

Thank you so much for a very positive feedback. We aim to please our discerning guests. FREE Wi-Fi is very important in our books, and lets our guests communicate with family and friends as it should be at no additional cost. We try very hard to offer a value for money stay.

I booked this on the net because of the value price and the free wi-fi, so on arrival I was a bit concerned how close it is to the State Highway. But no worries! The double glazing ensured a good night's sleep, and the modern and comfortable facilities provided all I could want.
