This place lives up to its name. The view from the units is grand: at all times of the day, but especially in the evening. Having been here twice before (and stayed at two other locations in the town also) coming back was the natural and obvious action. And we were rewarded, it was a grand three night stay.
We were located in one of the upstairs studio units, with the car parked immediately behind. The unit was wood paneled throughout. The bed and settee were comfortable. Table and chairs were provided. The kitchenette was fully stocked and well laid out. The bathroom and separate toilet were a little old-fashioned, but everything worked well. A balcony, overlooking the grand bay, with two chairs was the icing on the cake.
Wifi was available with a strong signal and adequate speed for email activity: provided at a reasonable charge.
This year we did not come here for the whale, or dolphin, watching (which are both spectacular) but to enjoy the superb peninsula scenery and walks. Buying the DOC leaflet on local walks at the iSite provided full information on a 3 hour circular walk that is well worth doing if the time is available. Walks around the peninsula headland can only be undertaken around low tide: but the birdlife, and NZ fur seals, are wonderful to watch (but don't get too close). Try the Green Dolphin for an evening meal, it was good.
