Had a ground floor room that was very clean and well stocked. Kitchen had everything in it you could want, nice shower, toilet, vanity area with fluffy towels, hand wash , soap and shampoos, main area is nice with comfy large bed and a couch you can swing around to relax on and take in the fabulous views. Outside the sliding glass door is a nice patio area complete with table and chairs. We enjoyed our stay here and if we are ever back in this area would stay here again.

Room Tip: rooms on east side of office look like they would have better views as there are no trees opposite them like there is on the west side rooms

I stayed at the Panorama for two nights in feb 2013.
I agree that the views of the bay were fantastic. The room itself was ok but i think there were a few areas which let it down. Upon arrival I thought there was a bit of a musty smell (possibly due to the pine in the room) and the decor and furnishings were very tired and dated.
In addition I wasn't totally comfortable with the security of the property. It was a ground floor room and the windows were right next to the handles for the main and patio doors. If the windows were left open at night due to the heat then it would be very easy for someone to reach their arm in and open the doors. I would have preferred a latch to limit how far the windows could be opened.
If I returned to Kaikoura I would probably try somewhere else.

Situated right on the sea front and an easy walk into town what's not to like. Panorama was a typical NZ motel. It did "what it said on the tin". No nonsense, no frills. Clean, quite (at night) and friendly.

Stayed one night in an upstairs room. All have views of the Bay, second to none. The buildings are chalet type and clean. Excellent parking for the upper floors means no lifting of heavy luggage. But if your neighbour wants their TV on loud then you can hear them. That said we enjoyed staying here. It was good value for money, amongst some overpriced motels in Kaikoura

Room Tip: Get an upper floor room

Stayed only one night. The rooms were extremely well presented with a top outlook. Great off road parking. Staff good to deal with. We are a family of 3 and this motel worked well for us. Ours friends are a family of 6, they too were very happy with their stay. The only thing that stopped an excellent review was the road, it has the potential to get busy during peek times, albeit that comment is a tad picky. I would and have recommended this motel.
