“John and Viv's trip to New Zealand”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

Despite arriving late in the afternoon we were able to get a good look around the house. A very interesting place outlining the history of whaling.

“Don't walk past...”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

It doesn't look much from the outside. But once you take a closer look you realise the foundations are actually made of Whale Bone Vertibrae and the history becomes very apparent. A fascinating hour or so of splendid old New Zealand. Fantastic value for only 10 bucks.

“Back in time”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

A whaling history lesson. A. Whaler's prefab cottage brought from Australia in the mid 1800s. The history of three families who lived in it and the answer to why it is psi ted pink. A modest NZ$5 entry fee is worth it. Ann or another lady will give you some points and the similarities of this and other whaling houses around the world. A good and interesting lesson...

“Great little cottage, lots of history”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

Fyffe House is a lovely historic house. The displays inside cover the history of the house, of Kaikoura and the various families who lived in the cottage. It is very interesting. The lady at the desk gave us a bit of a tour and it was fascinating listening to her. They have this treasure hunt-type activity to keep the little one amused. Our girls loved going round the cottage looking for objects and hearing about their purpose, etc. Definitely recommend the visit.
