“Magical place”
Reviewed 23 January 2012

It’s a magical place with all the lavender gardens blooming around. The cottage was very nice, well decorated, yet bit small. The homemade bread served in the breakfast was delicious. The only problem was with the sofa that served as a bed which was very uncomfortable for this purpose.

We spend two night at Dylans Country Cottages over Christmas and wished we could have stayed longer. Beautiful Lavender Farm, great hosts, fab breakfast, lovely soaks in the spa bath and a great night sleep with the stars (glass roof) above us. An excellent place to stay on our honeymoon.

We spent the last two nights of our New Zealand vacation at Dylans Country Cottages on the Lavendyl lavender farm. It was a wonderful place to relax and contemplate all that we had seen on our trip before spending the next 24 hrs. flying home. It was definitely a highlight. The homemade bread and scones were great. My wife enjoyed the lavender water for the spa tub. I enjoyed photographing the lavender; beautiful. Very relaxing and peaceful. Jan, Corry, the sheep, chickens, and two cats were the perfect hosts. We would love to come back and recommend to everyone.

We simply loved it... its such a wonderful country cottage in an absolutely stunning setting...

We had booked the Mahoe cottage and it was so cozy and beautiful, not to mention the outdoor spa which was fantastic...

The entire property has a lavender touch to it - lavender soap, lavender water for the bath, lavender coloured towels... looks very nice...

We didn't really meet Jan, but Corry was the perfect hostess. Her homemade bread which she serves fresh every morning with breakfast can't be bought for any amount in any bakery - it is awesome...

The lavender farms surrounding the cottages had just started to bloom, making it a lovely setting to relax and enjoy yourself... its a shame we booked only one night...

If you are in Kaikoura, stay here... you'll love it...

Room Tip: pick the mahoe cottage if you can - the outdoor spa with the lavender water is a wonderful experienc...

After a long drive and a marginal B&B the night before, this was like landing in heaven. Taking time to walk around the lavender fields, pat the sheep, and just breathe in the lavender and rosemary relaxed us completely. The beds were great, the spa bath was another option for relaxation, and the lavender-scented bath salts and soaps a treat. Corry's secret delivery of fresh home-made bread for breakfast was a highlight, and the cute little basket of fresh fruit and home-baked cookies very much appreciated. You'll be supplied with the fixings for breakfast and make your own in your own little kitchen, so no worries about having to make conversation with other guests or owners first thing in the morning - lots of privacy. We hated to leave.

On our recent vacation in New Zealand we stayed in 14 different accommodations and the Lavender Farm was the most enjoyable.
We were made extremely welcome, really enjoyed the fresh bread, eggs and other breakfast items, and loved wandering in the gardens and listening to the birds.
We thoroughly recommend Dylans Country Cottages to anyone visiting the Kaikoura area.

Room Tip: We were in the larger cottage and it was great

My husband and I have just celebrated my 40th by having a wonderful stay at Dylan's Cottages, to spend this time child-free and in the peaceful surroundings of these divine gardens was a treat for us! To wake each morning with fresh baking, and beautiful breakfasts was a pleasure, and should I even start on the outdoor bath and shower - divine, divine, divine. Corry and Jan were incredibly friendly and hospitable, and nothing felt like it was too much trouble, the best hosts ever! We will definetely be back, to know complete relaxation is a reason to return!

Room Tip: If you can, get the cottage with the outdoor bath and shower.
