We have travelled for 6 weeks and have mixed experiences of restaurants from fantastic to 'why was this place recommended at or accommodation". This restaurant I found on this site and knew that not only would we have lunch but we would stay the night so lunch could be long and leisurely. When we arrived for lunch I realised that the dinner menu looked really inviting, so asked if it would be a problem if we had a light lunch and then dinner. It was no problem at all so we ordered a seafood chowder and a bruschetta. I've never like seafood chowder but will always taste it just to be sure. Well! This was so good I had to fight to get my spoon in the bowl as Shane said it was the best he had ever tasted as well! What a good start. Dinner was entrée of the most delectable green lipped mussels in white wine sauce followed by groper for one and beef burgundy for me. The beef burgundy had huge chunks of meat, mushrooms and onions and a really delicious sauce and the groper was cooked to perfection. We followed this by spoiling ourselves with a creme brûlée and chocolate fondant which we shared. Delectable! What was great was that we waited while the seafood chowder was freshly made and the beef burgundy was being cooked in the afternoon while we wandered through a delightful forest walk on the property. Our hosts were fabulous and the kind of people we would have liked to spend more time with ( I even scored a cuddle from 3 year old daughter before we left). To top it all off the chef shared his ingredients for the mussel sauce and his method of poaching eggs the next morning. Thank you Viv ans Shannon for the best experience of our trip.

My wife and I recently stayed the night at the Lodge. The setting was perfect and the room was spacious, very clean, modern
and very comfortable. We dined in the restaurant and oooh what a meal. We started with the creamy seafood chowder and plump fresh mussels in a delicious coriander and chilli butter broth and for mains the fresh pan fried grouper fillet and a prime aged angus sirloin. Both were perfectly cooked and the portions of all the dishes were very generous. Everything we ate was soooo tastie and the flavours indescribable. We just had to try a dessert and settled on the chocolate fondant with the hot runny center.......the sponge was as soft as an angle's pillow and flavour was out of this world.
We have dined out for years including 5 Star cruise ships with Michelin Star chefs and believe me this dinner would match any of them. All the staff were very friendly and obliging and made us feel at home.
We will be back !!

This place is up off the main road and worth a look. We called ahead to check that they were open which is a good idea.
We had the salmon and the vege lasagne for lunch - both dishes were great and very fresh. The salmon was perfectly cooked including the crispy skin.
We were the only couple in the room, so we had the great view all to ourselves.
I'd suggest you take the clubs for a quick (& cheap) 9 holes before lunch or a couple of drinks on the patio.
We'll be back for sure.

The Koura Bay Lodge has just been listed in the NZ Motorhome association's travel directory as a "Park over Property" (POP). Well what a stunning place to visit and stay at. We arrived and couldn't believe the views this place has. A nice 9 hole Golf course to start the afternoon off with, a good walk and some very nice holes to play. After meeting our hosts we had dinner at the restaurant and the food was beautiful along with the wine selection. We would highly recommend a stop over here. The lodge with accommodation, food and wine along with a Golf course with reasonable pricing can't be overlooked. Thank you KBL for providing an outstanding experience..
