When we first arrived I was really disappointed because we didn't have a sea view room. However, the room we had on the side was lovely and quiet, comfortable, clean and had everything you needed. The sea view rooms had a patio outside quite near to the road so I was glad that we'd got a side room. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful and after leaving a library book there they agreed to post it back to me which was really helpful. Located in the nicest quiet part of Kaikora and near enough to walk into the town if you wanted to.

Tried two rooms - paid an addtional 30 NZD for one on the front for the view but it was noisy from the wind and sea, and the double glazing was not tinted so anyone could see in and it didn't do anything for the draught either; so we tried another which was okay, on the side so quieter and warmer. All very old and in need of a complete refurbishment - chipped Formica tops, Wi-Fi a problem - limited and had to keep renewing it. Not for us.

Room Tip: The side is cheaper and quieter.

This is a small property, our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We opted for a one bedroom room to avoid the stairs (while not ocean frontage we still had a pleasant vista); it was spacious, well appointed and very clean.

Room Tip: Room #1 has a view without the stairs

Very helpful and friendly welcome - they even confirmed our whale watching trip and organised a back up plan if the weather was a problem. The motel is located on the beach front in a quiet location and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped. A good base from which to explore and enjoy the area. Recommend.

This motel is around a mile from the centre of Kaikoura, in what is clearly the upmarket end of town. It is only about half a mile (further out) to the excellent Green Dolphin restaurant. There is a road between the motel and the sea but there is virtually no traffic overnight as it is a dead end.

We had an Executive room which was very large and well equipped and furnished, and there were two folding chairs for using on the terrace – a pleasant place to sit with a drink in the early evening.

The owners were very pleasant and helpful.

This motel is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Of the about 15 New Zealand motels we have stayed in this is probably the best.

This is an excellent small motel right on the 'promenade'. The rooms are of a good size and very clean. Reception and staff are freindly and efficient. The location is a little walk to central Kaikoura but no complaints.

After touring New Zealand and staying in 16 motels, we found this to be the best.
It had everything you could ask for, from laundry to bathroom accessories, and all of high quality.
The unit was spacious and immaculate.
The hosts were friendly and accommodating.
Worth 5 star.

Room Tip: Any sea view
