Perfectly laid out for family requirements. We loved this motel, and next time we go to Kaikoura we will definitely be staying here and longer. The hosts were super friendly and suggested as well as reserved a brilliant place for dinner for us. We were travelling will our 6 month and 3 year old children, so we stayed in the two bedroom unit. They had everything we needed for us to have a lovely stay, portacot, high hair, stair gate (the unit was two story), bath, full kitchen, the disney channel (as well as loads of other sky channels), and DVDs to borrow.
The unit was warm, very clean, brightly decorated and homely. You can tell the owners took a lot of pride in this accommodation.
Waking up to the views outside our window and from the lounge windows with the sun coming up were breath taking. The motel is across the room from the beach and a playground, close to fantastic restaurants, and a short drive to the seals.
When we packed our car to leave, the hosts chatted to our 3 year old which was a great help keeping her entertained.
We will be back, thank you for one of the best parts of our holiday around the South Island!

Room Tip: When travelling with children the two bedroom units are brilliant, and ask for one with the sea views.

Kaikoura is small, beautiful town where you can see the whales. Anchor Inn Motel is just in front of the Ocean opposite playground area. Rooms are clean, not outdated. The motel is located not in the centre of the town but in walkable distance, no need for car.
I wish I could come back on day to this gorgeous town and have a lobster for breakfast again.
I can suggest this Motel, it is a good choice.

A one night stay in a 1 bedroom unit was just about perfect. Very clean quiet room with full amenities for a self accommodation. Party of 3 adults and 1 child had plenty of room to spread out. Kaikoura is a small village and the Anchor Inn is located nicely in the centre of all the action. Had very friendly assistance from on-site owners/managers.

Hosts quiet friendly, though a little odd, place was busy, great sea views. Ice in freezer, shower was warm and good pressure. Place was clean and tidy, black out curtains seemed to work well, we wo0uld stay again

We went to Kaikoura to go whale watching before moving on, as such all we needed was a quiet comfortable place to sleep for the night. The Anchor satisfied this well. It is similar to a UK Travelodge but with friendly helpful owners. There is a laundry on site to catch up on the washing.
