We stayed at this property during a two week trip to New Zealand.
l
This motel is run by a couple with two young children and they do a great job of keeping it clean and in good condition. This is a motel but it is a well run motel.

Sorry for the late feedback. We stayed here in October and had an incredible time! We had my one year old son and intellectually disabled brother with us and to say that Penny and Josh went out of their way was an understatement! Penny picked us up from the train and from that moment we were made to feel totally at home. I had spoken to Penny on the phone before booking accommodation and I liked her straight away. She recommended we get adjoining room as there were 5 of us and even offered me use of her daughter's stroller! The motel was spotless and we thoroughly enjoyed the 3 nights we stayed there. Penny was extremely welcoming towards my brother and she even drove us to see the seals, Josh cooked us a delicious breakfast. We want to come back now!! :)

Thank you for your lovely review :) It was really nice to meet you and all your family, I was more than happy to spend some extra time with you all and help out. I hope the rest of your trip home went well and it would be great to see you all again sometime!

We would not have been able to enjoy Kaikoura on our tight schedule without the help of Josh and Penny who run the hotel. We arrived by bus and Penny picked us up. We scheduled whale watching and sea kayaking. Both are weather dependent, and weather did not entirely cooperate. In order to do both activities and catch our next bus, we arranged with Penny to store our luggage following check-out and catch a ride to our next bus connection. This was service "above and beyond..." Not to mention that the accommodations were clean, comfortable, and convenient. Penny and Josh were as helpful as they could be. When we needed advice or help, their response was "No worries." Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms have picnic tables outside the door.

Josh & Penny offer the real personal touch. Nothing was too much trouble, they even invited us into their home to use the computer, we almost felt that we were part of the family! The room was comfortable and spotless. The setting is attractive, very relaxing.and although on the outskirts It only takes about 5 minutes to walk down to the charming little town of Kaikoura, which has a lovely beach, offering access to the Whale experience, not to be missed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we toured the North & South Islands and this stop was definitely on top of the list. Thank you Penny & Josh, we wish you all the best of luck for the future.

Like all Bella Vista motels the room was a little on the small side but that was more than compensated by the quiet location, friendly service and good facilities. We had an upstairs unit which gave good view
