On arrival we were told that $100 had already been deducted from our credit card - not sure if this procedure is legal, but more and more places seem to be doing it. We were then made to pay the balance before even seeing the room. The room we had was unfortunately opposite the lift, which I nearly got my leg caught in as it barely fits 2 small adults with a trolley. However, plenty of time to read all the signs of 'dos' and 'don'ts' on the way up as it took forever. The room was very dated - fluorescent lighting and 'power saving' bulbs made the dim atmosphere positively depressing. Kitchen cupboards and handles were sticky on the outside, and plastic wine glasses (?) not a good look. In the light of day, the array of signs relating to rules and regulations that were plastered on the walls was irritating and unnecessary. Bed very hard and hurt my back. Furniture the same, very uncomfortable and extremely dated. Bathroom tiles old, and wall had massive crack. TV reception poor. Found the Indian restaurant underneath a rather strange concept. Had it not been for a fortunate gap between the trees, the 'water view' would not have been visible, perhaps this place's one saving grace.

As stated above we booked from an advert on the back of a shopper docket, & we have not been dissappointed, would recommend this resort/hotel, staff are lovely & helpful, views wonderful, very clean, easy to find nice places for eating out, but the rooms cater extremely well for own catering.
Enzo's on the Beach up the other end near the Scarness Caravan park, makes a fabulous breakfast.

We stayed here for 4 nights.. Great location, a km or so away from the the busier part of town, but still close enough to walk to shops, restaurants etc..Every room has a nice outllook of the water. The managers were very friendly. the rooms were clean and well equipped, everything you needed. Would definitly stay there again..

We have stayed here on a number of occasions and would not consider anywhere else at the Bay as Shelly Bay has all we need. The hosts are always friendly and helpful. The apartments are fully self contained with good views of the bay. Always extremely clean and well presented. Just across from the beach. Only a short walk to shops and restuarants but yet in a quieter section of the esplanade.

Room Tip: All apartments look out to the bay

Recently stayed at the Australis Shelly Bay Resort and very glad a chose it!!

Was a last minute booking to see family and there was not a lot of options available due to a long weekend in Qld and this was the last available room close to the beach so I was a little skeptical as to the quality of this place but was pleasantly surprised. I have stayed at a lot of Hotels all over the world and although not oozing the 5 star luxuries that you get at the more expensive resorts this place is clean, comfortable, and very functional and truly is a home away from home with an extensive array of amenities that I will explain in this review.

Hotel Facilities- The Hotel itself is on Charlton Esplanade right across the road from the beach. All rooms face the water and have a generous balcony with which to enjoy the morning sun and check out the horizon. Resort is close to most coffee shops and restaurants and there are several small grocery stores nearby, if you are active you can walk to most things. The attraction for me booking this place was not so much the rating but the fact that it was self contained style accommodation meaning you have everything you need to stay indoors if you choose which turned out to be a blessing as the weather was horrible. I actually had friends and family over both nights for dinner and drinks and was an excellent alternative to eating out and spending heaps of $$

The rooms are spacious and very well maintained; I booked a single room (Queen) but there are alternatives for families etc. The Bedrooms was ample size and the living area huge with combined living/Kitchen and 4 seat bench for eating facing kitchen area. Dining room had a large couch with reclining foot rest and lounge seat with which to extend legs and was all in all very comfortable. Kitchenette was one of the best I have seen and there was nothing left out. I was able to cook both nights and there was nothing from a cookware and or cutlery perspective that was missing. There was even a full spice rack although most were outdated that I did not use a Large fridge with which to stock up on supplies and dishwasher but I did not use it. Beds were comfortable and had ok pillows not the best but again this is not a 5 start resort. Bathroom was medium sized and had a washer and dryer hidden behind cupboards which I used for washing gym clothes etc. Room included free wi-fi but I did not use. There were 2 Split system A/C in the unit, one in the bedroom which was reverse cycle and one in the living area which was cooling only.

Dining – There was a Restaurant downstairs which was open every night and served Indian fare and some other dishes but I did not use this. Room service was available but I did not use this either.

Recreation facilities – There is a Resort style pebble Crete pool at the front of the resort however due to the weather was not being used. There is a tennis court at the rear of the resort but was not very busy again due to rain. There was no gym on site but there are several gyms within 5 minute drive in the heart of Hervey Bay if you want a good work out. Failing that walk the beach paths ;-)
.
Transport/Parking - The Hotel has free parking downstairs but is locked in the evenings and accessible with key.

All in all a very enjoyable stay and will stay here again when next in Hervey Bay

regards

It was clean enough, located OK and priced OK. Nothing flash, but good enough for the money.

Room Tip: Any room but room 4...it is next to the resturant and entry ramp.
