Shayla is the best full day tour, if you want to see the Whales up close, this is the one to be on as she sits low in the water you almost eyeball the Whales when they surface. Being a smaller vessel and fewer people meant everyone had a good view. After the disappointment of bad weather and cancelled trip the day before, Shayla more than made up for
it next day. We had a couple of Whales breaching, Spy hopping swimming directly underneath for well over two hours, so close they were almost touchable. They must have taken a shine to us as when a couple of larger boats approached they dived down only to reappear and perform again when they left. Morning tea of muffins, lamingtons tea and coffee, then an amazing lunch of fresh prawns, chicken and cold meats, fresh salad, pasta salad and bread rolls with a complementary drink, Also afternoon tea of cheese, biccy's and a fresh fruit platter. All this while floating about on the bay, what more do you need. Extra drinks soft and alcoholic were on hand at very reasonable prices. Captain Harry hoisted the sails too. We did knock back the offer of a ride back in the boom nets, bit too chilly for us, but on previous trips on Shayla young travellers from chillier climes have jumped on adding to the entertainment. We highly recommend Shayla as not being the quickest, but the most entertaining tour. After all if you are bothering to go, take the whole day and enjoy it! NOTE: if you are holidaying in Hervey Bay and intend Whale Watching keep at least a couple of days available as the trips are of course weather dependent.
