We recently stayed on a powered site with our large motorhome. The park is neat & tidy with clean amenities. Lovely grassy sites in a quiet area of town, but close enough for good access to shops, harbour & tourist info centre. Very quiet park, admittedly it was low season. The park team are all genuinely friendly, helpful & very welcoming.

We stayed here for approximately 3 nights in late April 2013.

I very often judge a caravan park for the friendliness and helpfulness of the front desk staff, and the ladies on the desk whilst we were there were lovely and easy going.

We picked our site based on wanting a quiet area to ourselves and it wasn't peak time so we did get what we wanted. All caravan sites are close to an amenities block and the amenities are very clean.

The park isn't walking distance to the town but it certainly isn't very far away and we were able to go for a short drive to a pub for some dinner.

Overall, we had nothing to complain about with this park :)

I was charged 27$ for me, my tent and my bicycle - which is more than for a bunk bed in a backpacker hostel. Apart from the hot shower and laundry facilities which I did not need - ther was was not much more. No kitchen with gas cookers, toaster and water boiler, just a barbecue stand which was useless for me. Anice lawn, but no hedges to give a bit of shelter. The view of the harbor was completely blocked by a high fence. No place to enjoy your stay!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us some constructive criticism.

We appreciate the honesty in your feedback as it helps us to assess where improvements can be made. however we also need to weigh it against other guest feedback and prioritise the long list of upgrades being made on a regular basis. I refer in particular to your feedback on the facilities for while you did not utilise the BBQs, amenities, laundry facilities, playground and WiFi, the majority of our guests do.

With regards to the cost of sites, our prices are set based on the demand of the season and are reflective of both the great location and the facilities on offer at the park. In mid and low seasons the cost is lower as demand for sites is not as high.

We are saddened that you did not enjoy the view from your site, as the reviewer directly below commented on the great views they had over the harbour.

For future reference, should you find anything with which you are happy during your stay, please do not hesitate to inform us so that we may work to rectify this for you.

We hope you will return again in the future.

Very helpful reception staff. Lovely, clean grassed caravan area with a koala wandering about. The amenities block was very clean and just like new. The park is located within easy few minutes walking distance of the town centre. We had a site on the southern side of the park, had great views over the harbour.

We had a cabin for the week we were here the kids loved the idea of the trio bunks, they provided us with plenty of room for our 4x4 and boat which was great as the boat is recently new so we didnt want it too far out of our site, we had some naughty blank ants visit our cabin due to the heat, i told the office who had the staff attend within minutes and da da the ants were cleaned up and taken care of great service. maybe just need some sort of air con instead of fan and it would be perfect, the kids also loved the foxtel cartoons all day long, plenty of room to ride their scooters and bikes around the people in the front office and the staff were great people too always happy and inviting when we would see them thank you for a great time only down fall we didnt catch many fish with that boat lol

Thank you for posting your feedback as it is great to hear your family had an enjoyable stay! We strive to provide great customers service and we are glad you experienced this during your week at the park. Although the current cabins don't offer air-conditioning, we do have plans for further developments in the future, including the introduction of new cabins. I hope you will stay with us again soon and thank you again for your comments.

This park provides twisted information and is very good at economically telling the truth. First of all the location of the park: please add there is absolutely no view. When you peak over the fence all you see is a loud, smelly harbour loading ships 24 hours a day. This means you hear the wharff at night!! The so called beach is directed in the harbour. Instead of ocean view, you look at massive ships, cranes and piles of sand etc.
we stayed in a so called cabin. Mini trailer or shoe box would have been a more appropriate name for it. Everything was worn down and plastic. No air conditioning or functioning fan and heating in the "bedrooms" for the cold days. The free wifi as no signal in the shoe box so we had to go to the laundry service place to get any signal. Even then it worked slow and you needed codes that would expire after just logging in. The playground has only things for max 3 years old. No other facilities available. The TV had no signal for half a day. Especially when it rains, there is no where to go on the camp site: the cabin/shoe box is definitely too small for 4 and there is no sitting area, picnic table with a roof over the table. We booked for 5 days but ran of after 2 nights: the most dreadful place we have been to in a long long time. Btw we do travel a lot around the world with our kids, but here information did not meet reality by far.

Room Tip: Don't choose a room, stay away from this place. Unless you like smelly, loud harbour noises 24 h...

Hello and thank you for your feedback on your stay at Portland Bay Holiday Park.
Portland is renowned for many things, including its waterfront activity. You can view big ships from around the world come in to load up local produce and the local fishing fleet unload its catch. You can take a ride on the foreshore cable tram, spot seals at Cape Bridgewater, watch blue whales off Cape Nelson or traverse the Great South West Walk. If you're after a spot of fishing, Portland is an angler's paradise. From a boat or the beach, there's an extensive range of fish to be hooked, including King George whiting, flathead, snapper, tuna and mulloway. Portland also has some of the best surf this side of Bells Beach.

As per the home page of the parks website, the park features “Port Views” which we believe to be an accurate representation of the views from the park. With regards to the cabin accommodation, our cabins provide guests with good, clean, basic accommodation and are priced accordingly. The park website details the cabin floor plan, the facilities they do and do not have, as well as images of the outside of the cabin depicting their size and shape to provide our guests with as much information as possible prior to them making a booking with us. We are sorry that you didn’t find these cabins to your liking.

There is a rolling program of cabin and park upgrades, many of which have been completed, however there are still many more to come, these upgrades include additional recreation facilities and some larger, more luxurious cabins.

We thank you for your feedback and hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future when these upgrades have been made.
