“Quiet and Large Disabled Room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 December 2012

The disabled room was down the back which made it quiet. Stayed for three nights. There were two beds which suited my father and myself. The bathroom had rails by the toilet and a walk-in shower. The fixed shower seat came out from the wall but did not have legs. Having had a bad experience with such a seat elsewhere, the staff kindly provided a plastic garden chair which was ok. Also provided was a non-slip bath mat. There is a slight lip at the front door.

Parking is tight if you have neighbours either side. We had many workmen staying there with large twin cab utes. The workmen were very obliging.

The only slight negative was fresh milk wasn't available for coffee when the receptionist was asked on our arrival. In the room's compendium, it stated fresh milk was available from reception. Maybe we struck a receptionist that was new?

We took a weekend package including a nice continental breakfast.

We would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back were quiet.

If you are staying in Portland and only need a place to sleep, then this place will suit. It is located on an unappealing main road, opposite a McDonalds. We stayed as we were driving from Melbourne to Adelaide and the reviews were good. The room was big and very clean, the bathroom had a bath as well as a shower. It was slightly odd to have a round table and chairs in between a sofa and the TV but we got used to it. The mini bar was well stocked and incredibly reasonably priced, a standard bottle of wine was $15! I doubt I would ever visit Portland unless it was as a stopover enroute elsewhere and I would probably stay here again. For more of a 'holiday destination', I would stay in Port Fairy.

Out deluxe spa room was quiet, clean and spacious but felt like a bit like an emply box lacking in atmosphere. We had prepaid a deposit and then paid the balance on checking in which I found surprising. The wall insulation was not that good resulting in our next door neighbours banging on the wall for us to turn the TV down at around 10pm even though the volume was not high. The shower head too low for us and the water pressure insufficient to have a satisfactory shower.

Stayed here for work. It is one of the best places I have ever stayed at, friendly staff and great rooms would recommend this place as a place to stay, only issue was it was a bit of a walk to the main town especially if you dont have a car AAAAAAA+++++++++

We wanted to book a one bedroom apartment for three nights in October 2011, but as they were all booked, they very kindly offered us one of the two bedroom apartments at no extra cost. A great first impression, and we were not disappointed. The villa-like apartments were all in separate buildings, very private, attractively furnished and decorated, spacious (I commented to my husband that we could have easily lived in such a place) -- and very clean! It was just the two of us staying there, but our apartment would have been ideal for a family of four to six, as there were two single beds in the second bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room, and there was plenty of space for a family. Free wireless internet was included, and the mini bar was very reasonably priced (in fact, it was the first time my husband and I had ever purchased from a mini bar because the price is usually so high). The beds were comfortable, and the heating was quiet and efficient. The staff were friendly and helpful, and even gave us a 10% discount voucher for use at any Golden Chain motel when we checked out. We love Portland, and will definitely stay at the Victoria Lodge Motor Inn on our next visit.
