The Bandholm Hotel has been beautifully restored to the grandeur of the 1800's. The reception area has beautiful crystal chandeliers, oriental carpets, traditional wall paper. The dining room where dinner is served is decorated in an elegant style, and the classical dinner music creates a wonderful ambiance for any special occasion. While the cuisine is not 4 star, the expensive prices are reasonable compared to other restaurants in Denmark. . . one of the most costly places to travel in Europe. There is a white tented outside dining area, facing the sea, whose romantic atmosphere is ideally suited for the many wedding parties held here.

The sparkeling fresh breakfast buffet was served in a sunshine filled conservatory with large windows, white trim and white orchids. . . rose buds on the tables. We feasted on rolls and loaves of various breads, right out of the oven. Seasonal, sweet melons, good muesli with yoghurt or milk, cold cuts (ham and salami), and a steam container with scrambled eggs and bacon, plenty of good coffee along with orange and apple juice. . . something yummy for everyone.

For only 2 nights, we rented a lovely apartment owned by the Bandholm Hotel. It was located just 2 blocks away and more in the center of the tiny hamlet of Bandholm, across from a terrific co-op gallery. What a treasure! The 1 bedroomed place on the second floor , (#28) was immaculate. The white and black decor was refreshing in appearance, extremely comfortable and efficiently designed. The large bed with memory foam topper and high end linens was a dream. The corner shower was the best we have experienced during our 3 months of traveling in Europe. It was actually "large", with great water pressure, an adjustable hand held shower head, and all the hot water anyone could want. The kitchen actually was outfitted enough that cooking was easy. . . especially great considering those high restaurant prices. The fridge was larger than we have found in European some homes, and the full sized stove worked very well. Some good wine glasses and we were set for dinner at "home".

Tip: Ask to borrow a hair dryer at "reception".

SPLENDID friendly service at every step! Next time, I want to try the SPA services. . . they sound fantastic! This area has so many interesting attractions. The Kruthenborg Safari Park, very nearby, is a "must do" for anyone in this part of the world. . . Fantastic! Very highly recommended!

Room Tip: Try the apartments. They are a bit more per night, but you could save so much by doing your own lunch/dinner. . . and you still get t have breakfast in the main hotel. # 28 (second/top floor) had the bedroom away from the street, so sleeping was quiet and peaceful.

This hotel is in a stunning location with wonderful outside dining/ bar and lovely uninterrupted sea views. Inside the public areas were just beautiful with a country house feel. Staff at check in and the outside bar were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room in the main building was a little disappointing as after the stunning public areas it didn't have the wow factor. It was spacious, light and clean but lacked character. The bathroom was new and well fitted and very clean. We did have some concerns about the electrics though, everything seemed to be powered off one extension lead and there were few sockets. Did not arrive in time for dinner but they did rustle up a good BLT which was horrendously expensive. The breakfast room was lovely and the breakfast which was included in the room price was good. Only stayed one night but would like to have stayed longer and would certainly recommend this hotel.

Hi, and thank you for taking time to rate our hotel. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay in Bandholm, and that you would recommend us to others. We appreciate happy and satisfied guests.

About your concerns with the electrics, I have today talked to our electrician to go through the rooms in the main building to ensure that everything is okay regarding safety. It's an old charming hotel, and in the old days people didn't use that many sockets, I believe that's the explanation to the need for extensions. It's a part of the charm :)

Regarding the sandwiches we always use home baked buns, fresh vegetables, homemade dressings and we roast the chicken ourselves, so the price should very well reflect the product, but write me an e-mail about what you paid for it, and I will check if we should have made a mistake with the price.

You are very welcome another time, and we hope to see you soon in Bandholm.

Best regards

A beautiful hotel with great staff, excellent food and openness toward families. The outdoor seating is gorgeous. Perfect proximity to Knuthenborg. Many fun activities for children including miniature golf. Great location by and view of the sea!
