We only stayed here one night on our way back to Christchurch. We arrived later in the afternoon and checked in. The staff was very pleasant and asked if we planned to watch the Rugby game. We said no so she quickly wanted to see if she could move our room away from the bar/restaurant. We appreciated this!

The room itself was sort of outdated and not as clean as the other places we stayed but not dirty by any means. The bathroom could have used a good scrub but it was only one night so we weren't super picky. The bed was ok and we tried to settle in pretty early.

Parking was free but isn't covered. There isn't free wifi and we didn't try out the restaurant downstairs.

The reason our stay was less than stellar was because of the atmosphere. We always expect some noise in the city but it was unbearably loud until around 3:30 in the morning. I don't really blame the hotel but it definitely detracted from our desire every to stay there again. People were screaming/yelling/partying which resulted in neither of us getting any sleep. We probably would have been better off just trying the extra 3.5 hours to Christchurch that night. Perhaps the environment would have been better had there not been a televised game...

Been here two weeks with another three to go. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good food, close to town centre. It is an old building that contributes to the comfortable ambience of the public rooms. Enjoying my stay here, will bring my good lady down soon when the project finishes.

Room Tip: Room 33. Oops no swimming pool. Cannot cancel input

The staff here are very nice, polite, and efficient. Our room was a good size and the bed was comfy. Could have done with a second heater, though. Wifi is cheap and works well. The room and bathroom were both clean. Good location; only a 5 min walk from the Intercity bus stop.

After a mix up with our preferred hotel we ended up staying at the Brydone. The room and bathroom were tired (a rubber bath mat for the shower, really?).

However the room was clean and the price reasonable

Friendly staff and comfortable, clean hotel. It is a little confusing getting from the annex to the main hotel as the floors and lifts don't align. But it is very central. As a bonus we had a good view of the lunar eclipse that night from our bedroom and I think we were the only ones in Oamaru who knew about it. The hotel is very centrally located and you do not need to pay the rip off prices for internet use as the library across the road and down a bit is free.

We stayed in the annex at the back in a standard room but it was dreadful. The room smelt horrible so we had to keep the window open all night and the proximity of the railway mant we were frequently wakened by the trains passing by. To top it all someone tried to come into our room at about 7 am - fortunately we had put the security chain on. All in all it needs a total overhaul. Breakfast was a bit tired and had to wait a considerable time for staff to turn up and serve us.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel or motel

we stayed in the annexe at the back of the hotel. Good room good beds the staff where great and very helpful. The sports bar below had good prices and the location of the hotel is very central. If i had a gripe the lift is next to useless but apart from that it was a great place to stay
