“Fabulous place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2014

We loved this place. Outside of the main town. The place has a lot of charm of an old English pub and great value for money. We had the Honeymoon Suite - great. We were also there over New Years Eve. A BBQ with a jazz band in the afternoon and early evening was superb - good for families. There was even a bouncy castle for the kiddies. Later on the band was fabulous to sing and dance the New Year in. Excellent meals. Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Go for the honeymoon suite

Our room was a bit dark and felt a bit to old world. Rather the old theme was an excuse for tatty. Food in the restaurant was good. Breakfast was hit and miss. Nobody seemed prepared for us at 8am and with a tight schedule for a drive to sail around Able Tasman area we skipped breakfast.
Wifi was wind up speed and barely useable
Wouldn't recommend unless you need a break from a camper van when it might then seem luxurious !

What a little gem, hidden away, this place has all the charm of an old English Pub. Great value for money, your own little home away from home. I would recommend staying here, you have your own outdoor area, and there is a giant chess set if you want to test your skills.

Room Tip: The cottage accommodation is great, there are three rooms at the back of the Hotel, a must. food was...

We were a couple staying in the honeymoon suite (it was the only room available when we booked) and this place is lovely. It was great having a pub right downstairs, and the food is excellent. The location is handy to the airport and not too far from town if you have a rental car. Nearby to walking paths etc. The room itself was nice and tidy, if a little old fashioned. My only complaints would be the plughole in the sink in the bathroom was a bit dirty and clogged and there was a bug on the bed when I moved the pillow (but that can't be helped). The staff were friendly and we would definitely stay again if we got a good deal on price like we did this time.

Room Tip: I didn't see the other rooms but the honeymoon suite is nice and big with a desk, a window seat...

Lovely location and older world setting. I stayed 2 nights for business and for one evening brought a team of colleagues for dinner. Great meal in the bar. Was a little noisy between rooms and WiFi access was poor - but not a big deal. Compared to where I normally stay this was much better value.

Lovely Olde Worlde place, great for a night or two. Very friendly staff and room attendants. Spa pool and comfy king bed in Room 9, but can be quite noisy at night. Would have been nice to have the tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, rather than down the hallway. Had a great meal there but continental breakfast was very basic. Nice to have a big set of drawers to put our clothes in. Lucky we had a Grab One voucher, as we would have been disappointed if paying the full price. If we ever stay there again, we would choose Rose Cottage.

Room Tip: Spa pool and comfy king bed in Room 9. Plenty of drawer space. Can be noisy at night. Tea and coffee...

We stayed two nights and were welcomed from the minute we walked in the door. Great friendly service and lovely rooms. Beautiful location. An excellent place to stay. Staff very helpful and the old world charm gives the Hotel some lovely character. We would be very happy to stay again - would be such a gorgeous spot to be in summer.
